DEAN OF THE SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING The Dean, who reports directly to the Provost/Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, provides academic and administrative leadership to the SOE. As the primary academic and administrative officer of the faculty of the School of Engineering, the Dean will assume a central leadership role in continuing development of the SOE’s disciplines toward national eminence with a solid commitment to research and teaching. The Dean is responsible for improving and promoting the SOE in areas of instruction, research, fiscal management, development and personnel. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Earned Ph.D. in Engineering or Computer Science, or a doctoral degree in a related discipline Record of accomplishment or credentials that would merit appointment at the rank of tenured full professor in an academic department of the School of Engineering at the University Three years of management and administrative experience at the level of department head, chair, research director, center director, dean, or the equivalent PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to articulate a vision for the future of engineering education and research, including concepts to enhance the reputation and stature of the School of Engineering Demonstrated excellence and recognition of research and scholarly achievement at national and international levels Demonstrated commitment to academic excellence at both the undergraduate and graduate levels Demonstrated commitment to the recruitment and retention of a diverse faculty, staff and student body to facilitate cultural diversity and equal opportunity Demonstrated ability to acquire or facilitate financial support for education and research activities including fundraising, working with advisory groups, and cultivating major gifts prospects Demonstrated understanding of the role and operation of a doctoral granting national research university Demonstrated leadership and managerial abilities including fiscal and resource management, excellent communication skills, and promotion of research and training activities Evidence of work or collaboration with industry or private sector institutions Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with University administration and State leadership Understanding of the roles of the diverse stakeholders within the University
