RN to BSN Program
Who should apply?
The RN to BSN Program is for registered nurses (RNs) who have completed the Associate Degree in Nursing
and wish to earn the Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Nursing (BSN). The RN applicant is to hold a
current, unencumbered nursing license. The program is designed for working RNs who seek to apply advanced
knowledge to their areas of specialty.
The nursing major can be completed in three semesters if taken full time. However, there are pre-requisite

complete my nursing program? courses that must be completed prior to entering the nursing major and St. Catharine core courses and upper
division electives that support one’s practice.
How is the program designed? The RN to BSN Program is presented in a hybrid format. Each course has a combination of online assignments
and periodic classroom sessions. Online assignments are independently completed. Classroom sessions permit
students to interact and present professional and personal application of content. Typically, classroom sessions
are scheduled every three to four weeks. Eight week and 16 week courses are offered in the fall and spring
semesters. A variety of electives are offered in the summer semester.
What courses are required
before entering the nursing
major?
Academic courses are indicated on the nursing curriculum plan of study (consult the reverse side). Credits may
be transferred to the RN to BSN Program if (1) college level credits (100 level or higher in most institutions) are
completed from an accredited institution and (2) an earned grade of at least a “C” or higher is achieved in each
course. Each transcript is individually evaluated.
BSN Curriculum Plan of Study After being accepted to the program, a meeting will be held with the program coordinator to devise an
individualized plan of study to support your professional and personal needs. Institution and program
requirements will be discussed, including pre-requisite courses, core curriculum outcomes, nursing major
sequence, and guided electives.
What is the application and
admission process?
Applications for the RN to BSN Program are accepted year around. Depending upon when the application is
received and admission accepted, registration may occur in the next semester (fall, spring or summer). Steps of
the application process and additional requirements are noted on the reverse side.
What is the length of time
credits can transfer?
For the RN to BSN program, pre-requisite/co-requisite all credits are individually reviewed to note their
relevancy to the nursing major.
What can I do to be successful Time management, self-motivation, and active engagement are key contributors to being successful in the BSN
program. As online assignments require computer skills and internet access, comfort in using these technologies
