The 2015 Marcia Silverman Minority Student Award Presented by the PRSA Foundation Sponsored by Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide If you will be a public relations senior this fall, we invite you to participate in the Marcia Silverman Minority Student Award competition, an award presented by the PRSA Foundation, Inc. and sponsored by Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide. Marcia Silverman, chair at Ogilvy, has spent her career as a champion for our profession, not only by leading one of the industry’s outstanding global agencies, but also by personally demonstrating to corporate, government and civic leaders the significant role public relations plays. She received the second Paladin Award from the PRSA Foundation in March 2010. Eligibility. The Marcia Silverman Award is open to students who are of Hispanic/Latino, Asian, African-American/Black, Native American, Alaskan Native or Pacific Islander ancestry to assist and recognize outstanding academic achievement and commitment the public relations profession. The candidate must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Candidates must enrolled in a program or courses preparing for a career in public relations, and entering his or her senior year of undergraduate studies this fall. Award. The winner will be presented at the Annual Awards Ceremony during the PRSSA National Conference. The honoree will receive a $5,000 scholarship, payable to the winner’s university for use on his or her behalf. Money must be used to fund the winner’s educational pursuits. There is no limit to the number of applicants from a PRSSA Chapter, and applicants do not have to be affiliated with PRSSA. Entries will be judged by a committee of public relations professionals. Applications should include: The application form, completed, with signatures. A recommendation letter of no more than two pages from a faculty member or adviser. No more than two additional letters of recommendation from internship employers, educators or others. Each may be no more than two pages. A one page résumé. Carefully review applications for typos, spelling and grammatical errors. Applications with excessive errors will be disqualified.
