Job Title: Assistant Ship Manager BASIC PURPOSE: Helps to manage and provide support to Directors and Ship Managers on special projects and during dry dock for designated ship vessels within the fleet that includes Port State, Classification Society, USCG and in general to regulatory paper work and documentation. Helps to essentially provide plans for long term planning for each of the ships to get assignments done accordingly. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Support to Directors and Ship Managers and as required for all preparation, coordination and ship repairs for Dry Docks and special projects. Additionally will attend dry docks and provide planning of long term plans to assure all coordination is done ahead of schedule. POSITION SCOPE: The task and responsibility are listed below but may require additional coordination not listed below: Assure vessel compliance to Safety, Quality and Environmental (SQE) Policy. Assist in the Supervising of maintenance and repair to optimize vessel availability while protecting asset value. Logistical support of vendor repairs. Assist in monitoring vessel operating budgets. Support shore side operations department in repair and maintenance for vessels including routine voyage repairs, regulatory surveys, dry docking shipyard events, emergencies, casualties and modifications. Extensive vessel inspection visits for pre-dry dock preparations and actual dry dock attendance. Assist Ship managers with creating dry dock specifications, daily and final dry dock reports. Attend vessels on regular basis to assure crew compliance to SQE program and to verify vessel maintenance and asset preservation. Assist in maintaining technical files including but not limited to service reports, machinery history, technical manuals / drawings and regulatory required documentation. Assist in monitoring maintenance budget including routine and major maintenance as well as engine consumables. Monitor and assure maintenance software is utilized properly and preventive maintenance jobs are scheduled and completed on time, verifying repairs and maintenance are properly reported and standard jobs are followed. Participate in office and shipboard ISMinternal and external audits, and assist in follow up corrective actions until closed. Assist in tracking and responding to SQE SDRs when associated with technical issues. Assist in the tracking and approval of engine spares and stores requirements. Assist Technical Superintendent or other engineering personnel in technical matters relating to the proper functioning of the technical staff.
