The year is getting off to a great start in the music department and the students are full of
excitement! At our Open House a couple of weeks ago, I mentioned an exciting educational
interactive computer program called SmartMusic that we are using at (Name of School).
SmartMusic is having a positive impact on the students’ learning in the classroom. What is also
unique about this program is that our students have the opportunity to have access to this
software at home for a very reasonable cost.
An informational presentation regarding SmartMusic will be held on (DATE) at (TIME) in the
auditorium. This session will include student demonstrations, how the program will be used
throughout the school year and information on how to purchase a SmartMusic home
subscription. If you would like to learn more about SmartMusic ahead of time, information is
available at http://www.smartmusic.com. (There is a very short video (4 minutes) on the
SmartMusic homepage that gives a great overview of SmartMusic. This is being developed.)
Some benefits of using SmartMusic with the students:
 Students get visual and audio feedback that helps practicing be more meaningful,
productive and fun!
 Students can click on a note to see the fingering!
 Students become more confident of their developing skills
 Included with SmartMusic are a metronome, a tuner and a digital recorder!
 You will always have access to how your child is doing on his/her SmartMusic
assignments 24/7!
Having a subscription for your home computer is not a requirement for the class but your child
will enjoy practicing even more while improving their skills! I highly recommend it.
