III. Justification for Change The course title for EDRD 4409 was changed to reflect the emphasis of the course. EDRD 4409 is a study of young adult literature — it’s place and use in the middle grades classrooms, how to find and evaluate titles, how to meet the diverse needs and interests of students, and how to develop instruction using young adult literature. We believe that the course title needs to reflect the importance of young adult literature as the focus of the course. In addition, EDRD 4409 will now become a required course in the middle grades education reading concentration. Therefore, we have removed the prerequisite of admission to teacher education as prerequisite. 2 Revised Spring 2006.
