NOTICES FOR STAFF, PUPILS AND PARENTS:
CHRISTMAS FAYRE (PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF DATE): The Christmas Fayre is taking place on
Monday 12th December, 6-8pm, in the Assembly Hall. Bring along family, little brothers and
sisters, and friends to enjoy the fayre. There will be a Santa’s Grotto, teas & coffees, jam jar
surprise, raffle, Christmas cards, book, DVD & CD sale (any donations would be greatly
appreciated) and so much more. Also, special appearance by live band ‘Where’s George’.
Come along and get yourself in the Christmas spirit! S6 Social Committee
SENIOR DANCE PRACTICE: There will be Dance Practices on Tuesday Period 1 for S5 & 6 who
are not involved in the Tree of Knowledge – this will be held in the Games Hall. There will also
be a practice in the Assembly Hall period 3 on Wednesday. Pupils should see their class teacher

ROTARY YOUNG CHEF COMPETITION 2012: Have you got your entry in yet...Entries have to be
submitted by Thurs 3.45pm to Home Ec. Remember it is open to everyone in S1 - S4

S5 STUDENTS - TREE OF KNOWLEDGE: Tree of Knowledge will be visiting the school today
with the aim of supporting all of you in your preparation for the Prelim. Exams in early
January. 5C and 5D should attend the Assembly Hall Periods 1 to 3 and students in 5H, 5H2 and
5S Periods 5 - 7. I apologise to all staff for any inconvenience.
CHRISTMAS FAYRE: On the 10th December at Duns Volunteer Hall there will be a Christmas
Fayre from 10am – 5pm. Entry is free. There will be refreshments and various stalls selling
cupcakes, sweets, arts, crafts, food, jewellery, bags, toys etc. In addition there will be a
Santa’s Grotto and free kids activities and entertainment. The S6 Charities Committee will
also have a stall, so come along and buy cakes and take part I the chocolate tombola and the
lucky dip to raise money for Alzheimer Scotland and Habitat for Humanity. Bring your family
and friends as there is lots on offer for everyone! S6 Charities Committee
BRASS BAND: Rehearsal at lunchtime TODAY in the Assembly Hall, 12.50pm
STRING PLAYERS: Rehearsal TOMORROW lunchtime in the Assembly Hall
CHRISTMAS CONCERT - WEDNESDAY 14TH DECEMBER: There are now only 20 tickets left for
the Christmas Concert. Get them soon (£4 each, from Mr Mabon) or there will be none left!

S3 AND S4 ROCK CLIMBING: Are you up for a challenge?!! If so, then come along to an
information meeting in Art room 2 on Friday lunchtime at 1pm to find out about how you can
go rock climbing at the worlds biggest indoor climbing arena!! Mrs Bertram and Mr Walker
CANTEEN NEWS: As of Monday 5th December the deli range of sandwiches, wraps & salads will
be available in a meal deal (see posters for details) priced at £2.42 for pupils and £2.90 for
staff. From now until Christmas we will have a special Christmas Sandwich & Wrap on offer.
Christmas Lunch will be served on Wednesday 14th December. Turkey, stuffing, chipolatas,
roast pots, brussels, carrots, gravy and a cracker. There will be no grab and go service on this

S1- S6 AND STAFF - THE BHS FACTOR: Our S4 ASDAN class is organising a Talent Show open to
all year groups to raise money for Children in Need (even though it is over).
The show will be on Friday the 16th of December in the hall from 12.40 until 1.40. 50p to watch
the show. If you would like to be part of the show (with a chance to win a prize) please speak
to Mrs Douglas by the 12th of December.
REQUEST FOR ANIMAL FOOD: Pupils from 2H2 are completing various challenges as part of
the Dynamic Youth Award, two girls from the class are collecting food for the animal charity
B.A.R.K. There will be a box in the school foyer to collect food for dogs, cats and rabbits - this
food will then be delivered to B.A.R.K before Christmas.
Any donations can be brought into school and dropped off in the box. Many Thanks in advance
from 2H2 & Ms Milford.
'GIRLS ALLOWED’: This is a girls only gym session on every Friday lunchtime. Go along with
some friends, have some fun whilst haveing a work out with your friends even bring along some
of your music! See the Active School notice board for more details.
HOCKEY: Next Wednesday (14th) after school will be the last hockey practice before
Christmas and ALL hockey players S1-S6 are welcome to come along.
There are games against Galashiels this Saturday (10th) so as usual could all players check the
team sheets on Thursday.
Can all U16 players make sure they are at training on Monday (12th) after school before the
game on Tuesday after school. Miss Robson
CHRISTMAS COFFEE MORNING: The Youth Achievement Group would like to invite staff to a
Christmas Coffee morning on Friday 9th December 10-11 am in the assembly hall. There will
be refreshments, stalls and a raffle. Admission is a donation on the door. Miss Foreman
S4 BATTLEFIELDS TRIP: There will be a short meeting in Miss Sullivan's room on Friday
interval. Please bring your passport and EHIC card if you have them. If you cannot make it to
this meeting please see Miss Sullivan ASAP.
S1/S2 SOCIAL SUBJECTS QUIZ: Earlston High School are hosting a S1/S2 Social Subjects Quiz
on Wednesday 29th February 2012. All schools in the Scottish Borders are being asked to enter
at least one team of 4 pupils.
If your are interested in representing your school and putting your History, Modern Studies and
Geography knowledge to the test please give your name to Mr Watson by no later than Friday
16th December.
