As a parent, if we were sending our children to school for the
first time, we would want to know about the people with whom
we would be entrusting our children.
Ms. Carrie:
My name is Carrie Thompson. I’ve been in the elementary school system for over 13 years. I was
a special needs assistant before taking over the Title One program at Brandywine Elementary,
Two years later, I became the director of the K-Club program for a couple of years before
taking time off to stay home with my young children. Next, I was an assistant in first grade at
Sugar Creek Elementary. I spent the next 4 years here at MES, co-piloting our K-Club
program. This will be my third year in the Discovery Kids preschool program.
I am a mother of 4 girls. My girls attend Morristown Elementary and Morristown High School. I
have lived in Morristown almost all my life. I am a previous youth group leader at a local church,
have coached for the Boys and Girls Club, and coach Jr. High girls’ volleyball at MHS.
Ms. Rema:
My name is Rema Tribby. I have worked in the elementary school system for over
twenty years and have passed the Praxis Para Professional Exam. I started in the
Title 1 area, but I have also been an assistant in the special needs room as well as
first grade. I directed the original K-Club program for eight years (five of them at
MES). This will be my third year in the Discovery Kids preschool program.
I am a mother of 4 (2 natural born and 2 adopted) children. My children graduated
from Morristown High School. I have lived in this area for most of my life. I have
held a Shelby County therapeutic foster parent license in the past and fostered
five children. In the past, I was leader of our church youth group as well as a
church board member. I am also the leader of the Blue Ribbon 4-H club.

Ms. Carrie and Ms. Rema also run a summer Kids Kamp here at Morristown
Elementary.
~WE BELIEVE~
We strongly believe in hands on learning. We feel that personal
experiences and studies have proven how critical good experiences are in
a child’s education. We are dedicated to giving our very best effort to
ensure that your child benefits from the discoveries of new friends,
abilities, strengths, and confidences. Along the way, we will help them pick
up many skills that will prepare them for a successful experience in
kindergarten.
We promise to introduce your child to many new ideas and experiences
through art, science, music, and books. We DO NOT promise to keep their
clothes in pristine shape—but will most likely have given them a great
experience to explain that stain! 
A recent article in the Shelbyville news said this:
“Over the years, we have seen great success in our children in
school because of the help they get before they head off to
kindergarten. Studied have shown this, and we have anecdotal
evidence from elementary school teachers. These programs work.
We hold that if we reach children with quality education programs
before they enter school, they will turn out to be much better
prepared to be educated.”
We believe this to be 100% accurate and are thrilled that you have chosen
to give us the privilege of learning and growing with your child. We are
looking to an exciting year with each student!
