(EHL) S5 / S6 The Independence Referendum: With less than 100 days to go until the Independence referendum the Modern Studies dept has organised two events for S5/6 pupils. Referendum Polling Day Wednesday 18 June 2014 Under the direction of the Moray Youth council, all S5 and S6 pupils across Moray are taking part in a mock Independence Referendum on 18th June. Elgin Academy S5 and S6 pupils will be released from class according to year group and house periods 5 and 6 on Wednesday 18th June. Pupils will come to the hall where they will register, then given a ballot paper which will ask the question “Should Scotland be an independent country?". Pupils will put a cross beside “Yes” or “No”. The ballot paper will be placed in the ballot box and pupils will return directly to class. All secondary schools in Moray are participating in this mock polling day. The ballot papers will be counted at Milne’s High School and the results will be available on Thursday 19th June. The Polling Station will be accessible in the school hall periods 5 and 6 on Wednesday 18th June.
