INFORMATION FOR S2-S3
S3 Assembly: There will be an S3 Assembly at registration on Friday 20 June. All S3 students should
report to the hall at the start of registration where they will be registered. (KJG)
S2 Novelties Book Group: The Booky Party is today at 1.10pm in the Library. (ST)
Mr McGuire’s Drama Elective Rehearsals: The following pupils should report to Mr McGuire’s room today
(Wednesday) period 2 for rehearsals for the P7 transition performance. We will run the entire play with props
on both days.

S5/6 ‘A day in the life of an Occupational Therapist’: Work experience opportunity at RGU Aberdeen on
8th Sept. Please see Mrs Bowley for further info and an application form. (LB)
S5/6: Could all Art & Design National 5 pupils please hand back their written work (orange sketchbook)

S5/6 Trip to Rome: Anyone in S5/S6 interested in going on a RMPS trip to Rome next February (all
welcome) should come to Mr Tsotsi’s room (B27) at 1:15pm on Friday 20 June to collect important letters.
U18 Registration Confirmation Letters: Under 18 young voters are urged to ensure that they have been
registered to vote on 18 September. We have been advised that confirmation letters were sent out last
week to those young voters who have already registered advising them that they should be receiving either a
poll card or a postal vote in August, depending on what they have chosen to do. Those that haven’t received
such a letter now need to ensure that they get on the register. Registration forms and postal vote application
forms can be accessed from the website:

or can be obtained from the school office.
S4 – U15 Football Team: Could every U15 player who has a school strip return the full strip back to Mr
Mone and tick their name off the list once they have handed it in. Failure to do so will result in letters and
phone calls home. If you have any questions or problems, contact Mr McAvinue in the PE department. (PM)
EMA Application Forms: Forms are now available in school. If you will be 16 years old before 30 Sep
2014 and think you may be entitled to claim for an EMA please collect an application form from the office.
Pupils who were entitled in 2013-14 MUST re-apply for Aug 2014. Your payments will not be carried over
into the new session. (EHL)
S5 / S6 The Independence Referendum: With less than 100 days to go until the Independence referendum
the Modern Studies dept has organised two events for S5/6 pupils.
Referendum Polling Day Wednesday 18 June 2014
Under the direction of the Moray Youth council, all S5 and S6 pupils across Moray are taking part in a mock
Independence Referendum on 18th June.
Elgin Academy S5 and S6 pupils will be released from class according to year group and house periods 5
and 6 on Wednesday 18th June.
Pupils will come to the hall where they will register, then given a ballot paper which will ask the question
“Should Scotland be an independent country?". Pupils will put a cross beside “Yes” or “No”. The ballot paper
will be placed in the ballot box and pupils will return directly to class.
All secondary schools in Moray are participating in this mock polling day. The ballot papers will be counted at
Milne’s High School and the results will be available on Thursday 19th June.
The Polling Station will be accessible in the school hall periods 5 and 6 on Wednesday 18th June. Pupils
should come to the hall as follows:










1.35 all S5 Gordon (Mr Clark’s and Mr Davies’ reg classes) go straight to the hall to cast their vote
before going to class to register.
1.45 all S5 Innes pupils (Miss Davison’s reg classes)
1.55 all S5 Moray pupils (Mr Mulholland’s and Mrs Sutherland’s reg classes)
2.05 all S5 Randolph pupils (Mrs Walker’s and Mr Pellegrom’s reg classes)
2.15 all S5 Seafield pupils (Miss McNeil’s and Mrs Forster’s reg classes)
2.25 all S6 Gordon pupils (Mr Kelly’s S6 reg class)
2.35 all S6 Innes pupils (Mr Tsotsi’s reg class)
2.45 all S6 Moray pupils (Mr Reid’s reg class)
2.55 all S6 Randolph pupils (Mrs Lee’s reg class)
3.05 all S6 Seafield pupils (Mr Abenheimer’s reg class)
Referendum Question Time Monday 23rd June 2pm until 3pm
The second event is a Referendum Question Time with politicians supporting both sides of the debate. S5
and S6 pupils will be asked to suggest questions that could be put forward to the panellists on the day. More
information will be included in your registration folder.
