Position: LSP Scholarship Program Job Title: Leadership and Community Service Coordinator Reports To: Leadership and Community Service Officer Division: D662 Location: IIE MENA Region Office Effective Date: Immediate hire Position Summary As part of the United States – Egypt Higher Education Initiative, The Local Scholarship Program (LSP) is a USAID-funded program that offers comprehensive undergraduate scholarships to talented and deserving Egyptian youth to attend private universities in Egypt. Through degree programs in a range of in-demand fields of study, English-language training, leadership development, civic engagement, U.S. study abroad, and career preparation, LSP will equip selected Egyptian students with the skills and knowledge to advance the country’s social and economic development. The Leadership and Community Service Coordinator will be responsible for providing overall support to the LSP leadership, enrichment, and community service activities. The Coordinator will be responsible for logistical and administrative tasks associated with the leadership and enrichment component; will serve as a mentor for students; contribute to the design of leadership and enrichment activities; facilitate leadership and enrichment sessions and activities as needed. Under the direction of the Leadership and Community Service Officer, the Leadership and Community Service Coordinator will work closely with the Academic Advisor, IIE MENA administrative and finance staff. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Program responsibilities: Assumes primary responsibility for arranging and confirming logistics for leadership and enrichment activities; Attends leadership and enrichment activities and trips held at IIE, partner universities, and external venues, and provides on-site logistical, monitoring and evaluation and reports on sessions accordingly; Oversees and mentors students working on service-learning projects and student-led workshops; Assists with mentoring students and serving as a resource to them for personal and inter-personal issues such as roommate issues, academic challenges, and adjustment issues; Designs and delivers sessions on themes of importance to Egypt, youth, and leadership; Assists the M&E Officer with the development and implementation of mechanisms to capture and share student and other project success stories, accomplishments, and anecdotes with USAID Egypt and to the larger community in Egypt; Contribute to the community service component of the Program including researching and developing a database of organizations at which students can volunteer, helps make linkages between students and organizations, and monitors community service activities and hours; * This Job Description is not designed to contain a comprehensive list of duties or responsibilities required of an employee. Liaise with locally based individuals and organizations from a diversity of sectors to create opportunities for site visits, guest presentations, panel discussions, or other resource support for the leadership, enrichment and career programming; Responsible for the development and updating of the LSP website including creation of pages featuring the leadership and enrichment activities and posting of feature and student stories, news, and events; Serves as one of several rotating emergency contacts for students after hours and on weekends. 2. General Administrative/Financial responsibilities: Coordinates logistical arrangements for leadership and enrichment activities by interfacing with partner organizations, university coordinators and service providers including scheduling, session and event venues, and other resource support as needed, and engages IIE support staff as required; Coordinates travel/transportation arrangements for leadership and enrichment activities as required; Maintains and inputs leadership and enrichment activity information in tracking documents and files to contribute to accurate monitoring and evaluating reporting; Ensures leadership and enrichment related documentation is included in student files Inputs student attendance in IIE CRM database; Assumes responsibility for leadership and enrichment activity related cash advance and petty cash requests and settlements; works with IIE Finance Office to do so; Coordinates financial matters with universities and service providers and the IIE Finance Office to ensure timely invoicing and payment Responsible for complying with applicable contract and sponsor requirements and following all IIE policies and procedures; Performs other duties and functions as assigned; IIE may add, change, or remove essential and other duties at any time. Education/Experience: 1. 2. 3. 4. University degree required; in education, youth development, business, leadership or related field; A minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience in a professional environment; Preferred experience working on USAID-funded projects; Preferred familiarity with university administration, scholarship management, youth development, or relevant area; 5. Professional fluency in English and Arabic; 6. Excellent proficiency with computer technology, especially word processing, databases, online application and website experience a plus; 7. Ability to organize and process a heavy workload and constantly changing priorities and tasks under strict deadlines; 8. Must be available to work during evenings and weekends as needed in LSP leadership component sessions, activities and trips. 9. Availability to travel domestically within Egypt for sessions and activities and for cultural trips and/or outreach activities. 10.
