Dear Parents of Mr. Brown’s Class:
Welcome to a wonderful year of fun and learning in Second Grade! Mr. Brown and the
children are off to a great start and we look forward to working together as the school
year progresses. Here are a few things Mr. Brown wants us to share:
Communication
Please communicate with Mr. Brown via email at dBrown@XXXXX.com. He will do his
best to respond to you in a timely manner. His class web page is XXXXX.
Sarah Smith Website
Please visit our school website at www.sarahsmithelementary.com. It is full of helpful
information such as bus routes, school lunches, teacher websites, PTA committees, the
school calendar and more. While on the website, sign up for our weekly Email Blasts.
Class Calendar
As room parents, we will be sending you a class calendar each month via email. It will
include events listed on the school and PTA calendar, as well as, activities specific to Mr.
Brown’s class. It will also serve as your reminder of volunteer sign ups, field trip
chaperones and class birthdays.
Classroom Volunteers
Mr. Brown has asked for volunteers to read to the class on Fridays from 2:15-2:30.
Please sign up via the sign up genius link on Mr. Brown's web page. Please email Susan
Smith with your preferred date.
Birthdays
You are welcome to celebrate your child’s birthday with the class. Birthday celebrations
will take place during snack time at 10:00am in the classroom. Please support our
Wellness Committee’s initiative to encourage healthy eating at school. Please consider
celebrating without edible treats or at a minimum send in small treats (such as donut
holes or mini cupcakes.) If your child’s birthday falls during our summer break, please
celebrate with the class on his/her ‘half-birthday’. They will be listed on the class
calendar as such.
Classroom Wish List
Mr. Brown appreciates and values everything that parents do for his class. He has
received many items from his ‘first-of-the-year” wish list already and thanks everyone
for their generosity. We will keep you informed of his needs on a monthly basis at the
top of the class calendar.
Class Parties
We will have a Holiday Party in December and an End of the Year Party. Dates TBA.
Teacher Gifts
Room parents are no longer responsible for collecting a class gift fund. Any gifting is
optional and individually determined. We will send an email requesting homemade
cards prior to Mr. Brown’s birthday.
