Special Holiday 2009 After School Classes - December 14th – 17th
Register by Thursday 12/10
Return the registration along with payment made out to Sacred Heart Schools to Dr. Sharp.
Class Sign up Logistics: Operate with the understanding that your child is registered for the class(es) you sign up for. You will only be contacted if there is not
room in the class or if the class has been cancelled. If the December 10th signup deadline has passed and you want to sign up for a class please contact Dr. Sharp
directly (773-681-8415) to determine if there is room in the class(es) you are interested in and to register your children directly with her.
Dismissal Procedures: All classes will be dismissed on Rosemont at the time designated as the ending time in the schedule below. Children not picked up within
5-10 minutes of this ending time will be placed in the after school program. If you arrive after the dismissal time and no staff is on Rosemont dismissing children,
please park your car in the school parking lot or on Rosemont with blinkers flashing and come through the Portry for pickup. After school staff is at school until
6:00 p.m. and your child is welcome to stay with us at no additional cost. Please pick up your children no later than 6:00 p.m.

Holiday LEGO Ornaments for Kindergarteners
Who: Kindergarteners
3:45-5:00 p.m.
With Ms. Brittany Gibson (Brittany is a student at Loyola University
majoring in Education, who works at Sacred Heart as well as the LEGO store
on Michigan Avenue, where she facilitates the birthday parties and club
meetings.) Students will be building holiday themed LEGO creations such
as a candy cane and snowman ornament. A LEGO goodybag filled with a
club magazine, coupon, tips and tricks card, building license, LEGO brick,
and more will be provided also. No prior building experience is necessary.

Holiday Baking with Mrs. Messina and Mrs. Facer
Who: Grades K-3
3:45 – 5:00
Come bake and decorate holiday cookies with Mrs. Messina and Mrs. Facer.
We will be rolling dough, baking, and decorating cookies. We will also be
decorating cookie boxes to bring them home in. This would be great for a gift
to share with your family!

Rockin’ with LEGOS and Santa’s Elves!
Who: Grades 1st & 2nd

With Mrs. Follstad & Mrs. Renn, Hardey 2nd Grade Teachers
Come join Santa’s two favorite elves (Mrs. Follstad & Mrs. Renn) for an
afternoon of fun! All elves will be making one of Rudolph’s favorite holiday
snacks, creating two LEGO Holiday ornaments and playing reindeer games.
This is one class you just don’t want to miss. HO! HO! HO!

Christmas Cookie Decorating
Who: Grades K - 2

Bells and wreaths and stockings, oh my! Join Mrs. Sheridan and Mrs. Terry for
some Christmas time fun! We’ll decorate cookies, listen and sing along to
Christmas carols and read a story or two.
Cost: $20 + $5 materials fee = $25

Children will have fun decking the halls to Christmas carols as they create
and design their very own beaded charm bracelets. Choose from a selection
of decorative beads including candy canes, gingerbread men, Christmas
trees, and jingle bells. Make a festive gift for someone special or keep it for
your own holiday cheer!

Holiday Card and Craft Making
Who: Grades K-5

Join Mrs. Donahue and Mrs. Edwards as they make holiday crafts and cards
for their families and friends. Crafts will include angels, reindeers, stars,
paper boxes and homemade cards. Please bring in photos to adorn any craft
with as we listen to fun music!

Glitter Ornaments with Mrs. Walke
Who: Grades 1-3
3:45-4:45 p.m.
Join Mrs. Walke and create your own glittered ornaments. You’ll be able to
choose from different shapes (Christmas trees, snowflakes, ice skates, candy
canes, polar bears and more!) and glitter an ornament to hang on your tree or
give as a gift.

Holiday Bingo

With Mrs. Fallon Hardey 1st Grade Teacher
Join Mrs. Fallon in making festive bingo cards. Holiday music will play in the
background as we sip hot chocolate and eat cookies while playing several
rounds of Bingo. Fun holiday prizes will be awarded! Don’t miss the
excitement!

With staff from Little Linguists who teach Mandarin at SHS
Come learn the ancient art of paper folding. It is the magic of turning a simple
square of paper anything with your own imagination- without tape or glue or
scissors. For the holiday season, let’s make a Santa’s hat, a Star, a Christmas
tree, or a peace crane ornament for decorating your home.

Join Ms. Morton, Primary School technology teacher, to design holiday cards
using such programs at KidPix and Microsoft Publisher.

Christmas Crafting Class with Ms. Powers and Mrs. Carlucci
Who: Grades 3 and up
3:45-5:00 p.m.
Come enjoy some holiday fun as we create a beautiful polar fleece scarf, a
lovely ornament for your tree, and some delicious peppermint bark. You will
need to bring a small school picture of yourself with you for your ornament.

Ornament Fiesta with Ms. Thomas
Who: Grades 5-8
3:45-4:45 p.m.
Each student will have the opportunity to design and make up to 3 Christmas
ornaments using a variety of tools and materials. This is the perfect
opportunity to design personal gifts for family or friends. The different types
of designs that will be available to each student will include, nativity scene
ornaments made with felt and wood, starburst paper ornaments made with
origami type paper, clear, fill-able plastic ornaments that can be painted,
and magic color scratch ornaments.

Christmas Bash with Mrs. DePalma
Who: Grades K, 1 & 2
3:45 p.m. - 4:45 p.m.
Enjoy the spirit of Christmas with your Sacred Heart friends! This holiday
class focuses on children engaging in large motor Christmas related activities.
After each game, every child will have an opportunity to dig in Santa’s toy
chest for a prize. A sack will be provided to carry the winnings home!

Peppermint Party

Make Your Own Holiday Fleece Blanket

Construct a tropical plant ecosystem in a 2-gallon cylindrical glass jar!
Personalize your BIOCYLINDER with decorative rocks and plastic animals!
You will be able to observe the water cycle in action and see oxygen
producers (tropical plants) as they grow and sequester CO2. Decorative
elements are included. (Add live amphibians or earthworms on your own!)
