ADVICE ON EVENING COURSE SCHEDULING: AN EXPLANATION OF HOW A-WEEK AND B-WEEK CLASSES WORK Georgetown Law offers 3-credit courses in the evening on three basic schedules: (1) three hours on one evening per week, 5:45-8:50 p.m. (2) two hours every Monday and two hours on alternate (“A” Week) Thursdays, starting on the first Thursday of the semester, 5:45-7:45 p.m. (3) two hours every Tuesday and two hours on alternate (B” Week) Thursdays, starting on the second Thursday of the semester, 5:45-7:45 p.m. Because “A” Week and “B” Week classes meet on alternating Thursdays – never on the same Thursday – students often take an “A” Week and “B” Week class in the same term, especially if they wish to take 10 or 12 credits in a semester. In 2015-2016, the alternate-week evening classes are as follows: Fall 2015 “A” Week (Mondays, “A” Thursdays) American Legal Profession Antitrust Law “B” Week (Tuesdays, “B” Thursdays) Criminal Law Employment Discrimination Federal Courts and the Federal System International Law I: Introduction to International Law Professional Responsibility: Ethics in Public Interest Practice Spring 2016 “A” Week (Mondays, “A” Thursdays) Lawmaking Litigation with the Federal Government “B” Week (Tuesdays, “B” Thursdays) Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights The list of “A” and “B” Week Thursdays in 2015-2016 may be found in the Explanation of Schedule Abbreviations on the Office of the Registrar webpage, http://www.law.georgetown.edu/campusservices/registrar/course-registration/Registration-Information.cfm. Note that the last Thursday class session in the “B” Week schedule will be held on a Saturday for many courses. An example of A and B-week scheduling: Fall 2015: A student could earn 10 credits by taking American Legal Profession (3 credits) on Mondays and “A” Thursdays, Employment Discrimination (3 credits) on Tuesdays and “B” Thursdays, and Criminal Justice (4 credits) on Wednesdays and Fridays.
