Summer Fete Only just over a week to go until the summer fete. A reminder from last week’s newsletter: On Friday 19th June we will hold a dress down day where children can come to school in their own clothes in exchange for bringing in a gift for the tombola. This could be a tin of fruit, bottle of wine, box of chocolates etc. GPA will be seeking donations of the following items for their stalls (to be brought into school on Friday 19 th June, apart from cakes): o Plants o Cakes – these can be brought to school during the afternoon of Saturday 20 th June or on the morning of the fete itself. o Books o Clean, soft toys We are very grateful to those people who have already identified that they are able to help, but are always on the lookout for more willing helpers – please let the school office know if you are able to help out in any way (even if it is only for part of the time). Junior Chef We wish Suzanne Rogers all the best as she takes part in the final of Junior Chef at The Food and Drink Festival this afternoon. Suzanne is being supported by her family and friends as well as Mrs Kydd and Mrs Moseley. Football match We wish our football team luck in their football match tomorrow morning and looking forward to hearing the match analysis on Monday! Thank you to Mrs Bennett and Mr Stalley for organising this. School Uniform To ensure new uniform is here before the end of term please submit orders with payment to the school office by Monday 22nd June. Any orders received after that date may not arrive until we return in September. Summer Term 12/6/15 Inter-school Athletics Congratulations to all the children who took part in the Severn Shield Field Events as part of the inter-school athletics competition last Thursday. The representatives from Year 5 and 6 represented the school beautifully and participated enthusiastically. Special congratulations to Katie Peters-Smith who came 6th in the long jump. School Kitchen and future school meals Work on our new kitchen is about to commence. This is obviously very exciting for the school. A few notes are below relating to this development: The school car park will be halved in size during the build. With the exception of any disabled users, parents should not be using the car park (even for pick up from after school club) so this should not affect you. As part of the build, the steps down to the main school entrance will be replaced with a ramp. As part of the build, the path around to the side/rear of the school will be widened. As part of the build, the external lighting to the side/rear of the school will be updated. Edwards and Ward currently hold the County Contract for school meals. This will cease at the end of the academic year. The County Contract has now been won by a company called Caterlink. Caterlink will be responsible for cooking our school meals on site, they will only be cooking for our school. New menus will come out to parents as soon as they become available. Space will be reduced within the hall during the build time so please be aware of this if you are attending an event. School Decoration Following on from the improved look of the newly painted KS1 corridor and toilets, there is more decoration work planned during the summer holidays. During this time, the following areas will be painted – the KS2 corridor, all classrooms, KS1 cloakroom and KS2 toilets. We look forward to seeing our gleaming school in September!
