Clinical studies suggested that dopamine D2
receptors are involved in schizophrenia. However,
no pathological evidence is avaliable for a role of D2
receptors in its etiology.

Dopamine D2 antagonists could alleviate negative
symptoms in schizophrenic patients. However,
postmortem analysis and imaging studies failed to
reveal abnormal D2 recptor density or signaling in
patients with schizophrenia.
