Title and Author
Faith, Hope, and Ivy June is Realistic Fiction and
is written by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor, a
Newberry award winner and has written many
more books.
Ivy June and Catherine
Catherine lives in a nice house and has lived a
pampered life, while Ivy June has lived in the
country with her grandparents ands has just
barely been making it all her life living with many
other siblings and family.
There are two settings in this story part of the
time it takes place in Thunder creek in Eastern
Kentucky another part of the story takes place in
the highly populated city of Lexington, Kentucky.
In this story to girls are in an exchange program
where two schools with total different ways bring
two girls to live together for two weeks seeing
life from a different point of view.
These two girls are used to total different ways
can they come together and conquer differences,
or will they be wanting these two weeks over as
soon as possible? When Catherine visits Thunder
Creek and a disaster happens will she be able to
give comfort or be a bother?
The main idea of the story is being able to live
together even when you have major differences.
As your read the book you can see the issues it
can cause being so close to someone so different.
For example when Ivy June visited her mom’s
house they have a conflict about the differences
from here to Catherine and how Ivy June wants
them to change their life to be more modern.
I think this was a fabulous book and recommend
it to any girls that enjoy dramatic books or for
any girl that has read any books by Phyllis
Reynolds Naylor.
