Characters Ivy June and Catherine Catherine lives in a nice house and has lived a pampered life, while Ivy June has lived in the country with her grandparents ands has just barely been making it all her life living with many other siblings and family. Setting There are two settings in this story part of the time it takes place in Thunder creek in Eastern Kentucky another part of the story takes place in the highly populated city of Lexington, Kentucky. Plot In this story to girls are in an exchange program where two schools with total different ways bring two girls to live together for two weeks seeing life from a different point of view. Conflict These two girls are used to total different ways can they come together and conquer differences, or will they be wanting these two weeks over as soon as possible? When Catherine visits Thunder Creek and a disaster happens will she be able to give comfort or be a bother? Theme The main idea of the story is being able to live together even when you have major differences. As your read the book you can see the issues it can cause being so close to someone so different. For example when Ivy June visited her mom’s house they have a conflict about the differences from here to Catherine and how Ivy June wants them to change their life to be more modern. Recommendations I think this was a fabulous book and recommend it to any girls that enjoy dramatic books or for any girl that has read any books by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. Thanks for Listening!!!!
