Question
Is AT&T or Verizon’s
data service faster?
Hypothesis
AT&T will be faster than Verizon.
I researched multiple websites on
the subject and the majority of the
comments said that AT&T was
faster.
Materials
• An AT&T iPhone 4
• A Verizon iPhone 4
• The app Speedtest.net
Procedure
• Find a unique location
• Place the AT&T and Verizon phones side by side
• Start the test in
Speedtest.net on both
phones simultaneously
• At the end of the
test, record the answers
• Repeat 3 times
• Move to a new location
Variables
IV: The service providers – AT&T
and Verizon
DV: The speed - ping, download, and
upload
CV: Type of phone - iPhone 4
• Ping-a system for testing whether internet systems are
responding and how long, in milliseconds (ms), it takes
for them to respond.
• Download-to transfer (software, data, character sets,
etc.) from a distant to a nearby computer, from a
computer to a peripheral device, or from a smaller
computer to a larger computer.
• Upload- to transfer (software, data, character sets,
etc.) from a smaller computer to a larger computer.
• mbps- megabits per second
