Sue Townsend By Jessica Stewart Sue’s Family • Sue was the eldest of 5 children. She was born in Leister on 2nd April 1946. She was married at the age of 18 to a man named Colin and had three children. How did Sue become Blind? • Sue suffered from an illness of diabetes. A few years ago tiny blood vessels in her eye started to leak across her retina. She then had laser eye treatment to try and stop the vessels but then her vision became blurry. Two years ago she became partially sighted and from that she became blind. Some of her Books. • Here are some of the series or books that Sue wrote. About Sue. • Sue left school at the age of 15. She worked in a variety of jobs including factory worker, shop assistant and joining a writers’ group at the Phoenix Theatre, Leicester.
