(Allâhomma salli `alâ Mohammadin wa âli Mohammad-in) Du`á al-Kumayl ãÈå×ãcáäoÂB ãÌÇåcáäoÂB ãÐäÃÂB ãÈåtãQ In the name of Alláh the Beneficent, the Merciful. (Bism-illâh-ir-Rahmân-ir-Rahîm) Du`á al-Kumayl AØáw éÄâ¾ åYá¯ãsáÑ ØXéÂB áÀãXáÇåcáoãQ áÀâÂGsF ØëÊH éÈâÏäÃÂB O Alláh! I ask You, By your mercy, which covers all things, (Allâhomma innî as'aloka bi-Rahmatik-al-latî wase`at kolla shay'-in) Du`á al-Kumayl AØáw éÄâ¾ CÏãQ áVåoáÏẠØXéÂB áÀãWéÒâ»ãQ áÑ By Your power, which overpowers all things, (Wa bi-qowwatik-al-latî qaharta bihâ kolla shay’) Du`á al-Kumayl AØáw êÄâ¾ CÏá éÁál áÑ AØáw êÄâ¾ CÏá á°á£ág áÑ and to which everything submits and is humble. (wa khadha`a lahâ kollo shay’ wa thalla lahâ kollo shay’-in) Du`á al-Kumayl èAØáw éÄâ¾ CÏãQ áYåRáÃá² Ø~~ãXéÂB áÀãWÑâoáRá`ãQ áÑ By Your might, by which You overcome all things. (Wa bi-jabarûtik -al-latî ghalabta bihâ kolla shay'in), Du`á al-Kumayl çAØáw CÏá âÅÒâ»áÖÙ ØãXéÂB áÀãWéqã¯ãQ áÑ By Your glory, before which nothing stands. (Wa bi-`izzatik-al-latî lâ yaqûmo lahâ shay’-in) Du`á al-Kumayl èAØáw éÄâ¾ åVÜáÆ Ø~~~~~~ãXéÂB áÀãXáÇá«á¯ãQ áÑ By Your magnificence, which fills all things. (Wa bi-`adhamatik -al-latî mala’at kolla shay'-in) Du`á al-Kumayl èAØáw êÄâ¾ Úá® ÕãméÂB áÀãÊCá§åÃâtãQ áÑ By Your authority, which rises over all things. (Wa bi- Soltânika-al-lathî `alâ Kolla shay’-in) Du`á al-Kumayl èAØáw ëÄâ¾ ãACËᶠák~~~~å¯áQ ØãºCRÂB áÀãÏå_áÒãQ áÑ By Your face (i.e. essence), which remains after the destruction of all things. (wa bi-wajhik-al-bâqî ba`da fana’i kolli shay’- in) Du`á al-Kumayl èAØáw ëÄâ¾ áÉC¾ånF åVÜáÆ ØãXéÂB áÀãMCÇåsGãQ áÑ By Your names (attributes) which manifest Your power over all things. (wa bi-asmâ’ik-al-latî mala’at arkâna kolli shay’in) Du`á al-Kumayl èAØáw ëÄâ¿ãQ á¦CcF Õãm~~~~é~ÂB áÀãÇåÃã¯ãQ áÑ By Your knowledge, which encompasses all things. (wa bi-`ilmik-al-lathî ahâta bi-kolli shay'-in) Du`á al-Kumayl èAØáw êÄâ¾ âÐá áAC¢F ÕãméÂB áÀãÏå_áÑ ãnÒâËãQ áÑ And, by the light of Your face (i.e. essence), through which all things shine. (wa bi-nûri wajhik-al-lathî adhâ’a laho kollo shay’in) Du`á al-Kumayl ârÑêk⺠CÖ ânÒâÊ CÖ O Light, O most Holy, (yâ nûro yâ qoddûs) Du`á al-Kumayl áÌ~~~×ãÂéÑÛB áÁéÑF CÖ O First of those who are first, (yâ awwal-al-awwâlîn-a) Du`á al-Kumayl áÌ~ÖoãgÝB áoãgD CÖ áÑ and Last of those who are last! (wa yâ âkhir-al-âkhirîn- a) Du`á al-Kumayl áÈá|ã¯ÂB âÀ~~~~ã~XåÏáW ØãXéÂB áPÒâÊêmÂB áØã åoã·å²H éÈâÏäÃÂB O Alláh! Forgive me those sins, which tear apart modesty. (Allâhommaghfir liya- th- thonûb- al- latî tahtik- ol`isam-a) Du`á al-Kumayl áÈá»ëËÂB âÁãqåËâW ØãXéÂB áPÒâÊêmÂB áØã åoã·å²H éÈâÏäÃÂB O Alláh! Forgive me those sins, which bring down misfortunes. (Allâhommaghfir liya- th- thonûb- al- latî tonzilon- niqam-a) Du`á al-Kumayl áÈá¯ëËÂB âoë×á³âW Ø~~~ã~XéÂB áPÒâÊêmÂB áØã åoã·å²H éÈâÏäÃÂB O Alláh! Forgive me those sins, which alter blessings. (Allâhommaghfir liy- a- th-thonûb-al- latî toghayyer-on-ni`am-a) Du`á al-Kumayl áAC®êkÂB âuãRådáW ØãXéÂB áPÒâÊêmÂB áØã åoã·å²H éÈâÏäÃÂB O Alláh! Forgive me those sins, which hold back supplication. (Allâhommaghfir liya- th-thonûb-al-latî tohbis-oddo`â’-a) Du`á al-Kumayl áAáC_éoÂB â°á§å»áW ØãXéÂB áPÒâÊêmÂB áØã åoã·å²H éÈâÏäÃÂB O Alláh! Forgive me those sins, which cut down hopes. (Allâhommaghfir liya-th-thonûb- al- latîi tonzil- olbalâ’-a) Du`á al-Kumayl áAÚáRÂB âÁãqåËâW ØãXéÂB áPÒâÊêmÂB áØã åoã·å²H éÈâÏäÃÂB O Alláh! Forgive me those sins, which bring down distress. (Allâhommaghfir liya- th-thonûb- al-latî taqti`-orrajâ’- a) Du`á al-Kumayl âÐâXåRáÊålF èSåÊál éÄâ¾ áØã åoã·å²H éÈâÏäÃÂB O Alláh! Forgive me every sin that I have committed, (Allâhommaghfir liya kolla thanbin athnabtoho) Du`á al-Kumayl CÏ~~~~â~WG§~ågF èUN×ã§ág éÄâ¾ áÑ and every mistake that I have made. (wa kolla khatî’atin akhta’tohâ) Du`á al-Kumayl á½ãoå¾ãmãQ áÀ×áÂH âPéoá»áWF ØëÊH éÈâÏäÃÂB O Alláh! I approach You by Your remembrance, (Allâhomma innî ataqarrabo ilayka bi-thikrika) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀãtå·áÊ ÔÂH áÀãQ â°ã·åxáXåsF áÑ seek Your intercession through Yourself, (wa astachfi`o bika ilâ nafsika) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀãQåo⺠åÌãÆ ØãËá×ãÊåkâW åÉF á½ãjÒâ`ãQ áÀâÂGåsF áÑ and ask You by Your generosity, to bring me closer to You, (wa as’aloka bi-jûdika ann todnînî min qorbika) Du`á al-Kumayl á½áoå¿âw ØËá®ãpÒâW åÉF áÑ to bestow upon me (the ability to) thank You, (wa ann tûzi`anî wsokraka) Du`á al-Kumayl á½áoå¾ãl ØËáÇãÏåÃâW åÉF áÑ and to inspire me to Your remembrance. (wa an tolhimanî thikroka) Du`á al-Kumayl è°ãwCg èÄëÂámáXâÆ è°ã¢Cg áÁBKâs áÀâÂGåsF ØëÊH éÈâÏäÃÂB O Alláh! I ask You as a (person who is) submissive, humble and obedient, (Allâhomma innî as’aloka so’âla khâdhi`in motathallilin khâshi`in) Du`á al-Kumayl ØËáÆcåoáW áÑ ØËádãÆCátâW åÉF to treat me kindly, to have mercy on me, (ann tosâmihanî wa tarhamanî ) Du`á al-Kumayl ãÁBáÒåcÛB ã°×ãÆ_ ض áÑ æC¯ãÊCº æC×ã¢Bán áÀãsåtã»ãQ ØËáÃá¯å`áW áÑ æC¯ã¢BÒáXâÆ and to make me satisfied, content, and humble in all circumstances. (wa taj`alanî bi-qismika râdhiyan qâni`an wa fî Du`á al-Kumayl âÐâXáºC¶ åVékáXåwH åÌáÆ áÁBKâs áÀâÂGåsF áÑ éÈâÏäÃÂB O Alláh! I ask You as a person whose poverty is intense, (Allâhoma wa as’aloka so'âla man-ishtaddat fâqatoh- o) Du`á al-Kumayl âÐáXá_Cc ãkãMBk~~~~~~~éxÂB ákåËã® áÀãQ áÁáqåÊF áÑ who presents his need only to You, (wa anzala bika`ind-ach-shadâ’idi hâjataho) Du`á al-Kumayl âÐâXáRå²án á½ákåËã® CáÇå×㶠áÈâ«á® áÑ and whose desire is great for what (only) You have. (wa `adhoma fî mâ `indaka raghbatoh- o) Du’aa Kumayl áÀâÊC¿áÆ Úá® áÑ áÀâÊC§åÃâs áÈâ«á® éÈâÏäÃÂB O Alláh! Great is Your authority, exalted is Your place, (Allâhomma `adhoma soltânoka wa `alâ makânoka) Du`á al-Kumayl á½âoåÆF áoáÏ᪠áÑ á½âoå¿áÆ áØã·ág áÑ unknown is Your plan, clear is Your command, (wa khafiya makroka wa dhahara amroka ) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀâWánåk⺠åVáoá_ áÑ á½âoåÏẠáSáÃá² áÑ overwhelming is Your might, unhindered is Your power, (wa ghalaba qahroka wa jarat qodratoka) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀãXáÆÒâ¿âc åÌãÆ ânBáoã·ÂB âÌã¿åÇâÖ Ù áÑ and escape from Your judgement is impossible. (wa lâ yomkin-ol-firâro min hokûmatika) Du`á al-Kumayl æBoãWCs ØãdãMCRá»ã ٠áÑ æBoã¶C² ØãQÒâÊâmã âkã_F Ù éÈâÏäÃÂB O Alláh! I cannot find anyone who can forgive my sins, cover my ugly misdeeds, (Allâhomma lâ ajido li-thonûbî ghâfiran wa lâ li qabâ’ihî sâtiran) Du`á al-Kumayl á½áoå×á² æÙëkáRâÆ ãÌátádÂCãQ ãe~~~~×ãRá»ÂB ØãÃáÇá® åÌãÆ èAØáxã ٠áÑ or change my misdeeds to good, except You. (wa lâ li-shay’in min `amalî- l- qabîhi bi- l- hasani mobaddilan ghayraka) Du`á al-Kumayl á½ãkåÇádãQ áÑ áÀáÊCdåRâs áYåÊF éÙH áÐÂH Ù There is no god but You. Glory and praise be to You. (lâ ilâha illâ anta subhânaka wa bi-hamdika) Du`á al-Kumayl ØãÃåÏá`ãQ âVFéoá`áW áÑ Ø~~ãtå·áÊ âYåÇáÃ᪠I have wronged myself, I dared (to sin) because of my ignorance, (dhalamto nafsî wa tajarra’to bi-jahlî) Du`á al-Kumayl éØáÃá® áÀëËáÆ áÑ Øã á½ãoå¾ãl ãÈÖãkẠÔÂH âYåËá¿ás áÑ but I have depended on Your eternal remembrance of me, and Your (continuous) grace on me. (wa sakanto ilâ qadîmi thikrika lî wa mannika Du`á al-Kumayl âÐáWåoáXás èeå×ãRẠåÌãÆ åÈá¾ áÕÙåÒáÆ éÈ~~~~~~~âÏäÃÂB O Alláh! O my Protector! How many ugly (deeds) You have concealed! (Allâhomma Mawlâya! Kam min qabîhin satartaho) Du`á al-Kumayl âÐáXåÃáºF ãAÚáRÂB áÌãÆ èbãjCᶠåÌãÆ åÈá¾ áÑ How many heavy misfortunes You have lifted! (wa kam min fâdihin min-al-balâ’i aqaltaho) Du`á al-Kumayl âÐáXå×áºáÑ ènCá\ã® åÌãÆ åÈá¾ áÑ How many stumbles You have prevented! (wa kam min `ithârin waqaytaho) Du`á al-Kumayl âÐáXå¯á¶áj èÍÑâoå¿áÆ åÌãÆ åÈá¾ áÑ How many ordeals You have repelled! (wa kam min makrûhin dafa`taho) Du`á al-Kumayl âÐáWåoáxáÊ âÐá æÚåÎF âYåtá èÄ×ãÇá_ èACËá[ åÌãÆ åÈá¾ áÑ How many graceful praises, which I am not worthy of, You have spread! (wa kam min thanâ’in jamîlin lasto ahlan laho nashartaho) Du`á al-Kumayl ØãÂCác âAÒâs åØãQ á¦áoå¶F áÑ ØãMÚáQ áÈâ«á® éÈâÏäÃÂB O Alláh! My distress is great, my sorry plight exceeded the limits, (Allâhomma `adhoma balâ’î wa afrata bî sû’o hâlî) Du`á al-Kumayl åØãÂÚå²F åØãQ åVáká¯áº áÑ åØãÂCáÇå®F åØãQ åVáoâ|ẠáÑ my deeds are inadequate, my chains have kept me down, (wa qasorat bî a`mâlî wa qa`adat bî aghlâlî) Du`á al-Kumayl ØãÂCÆD âkå¯âQ Øã¯å·áÊ åÌá® ØãËátáRác áÑ and, my desires have withheld me from my (own advantages). (wa habasanî `an naf`î bo`do âmâlî) Du`á al-Kumayl CáÎãnÑâoâ³ãQ C×åÊêkÂB åØãËåXá®ákág áÑ The world has deceived me by its illusion, (wa khada`atnî-d-doniyâ bi-ghorûrihâ) Du`á al-Kumayl ØãÂC§ãÆ áÑ CÏãXáÊC×ãhãQ Øãtå·áÊ áÑ and my soul by its offenses, and my postponement. (wa nafsî bi-khiyânatihâ wa matâlî) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀãWéqã¯ãQ áÀâÃáNåsGᶠ,Õãkë×~~~á~s CÖ O my Master! I ask You by Your might, (yâ sayyidî fa'as'aloka bi-`izzatika) Du`á al-Kumayl ØãÂCá¯ã¶ áÑ ØãÃáÇá® âAÒâs ØãMC®âj áÀåËá® áSâ`ådáÖ Ù åÉF not to let my ugly deeds and acts conceal my supplication from You, (an lâ yahjoba `anka do`â’î sû’o `amalî wa fi`âlî) Du`á al-Kumayl Õëoãs å ÌãÆ ãÐå×áÃá® áYå¯áÃé¦B CÆ ëØã·áhãQ ØãËådá£å·áW Ù áÑ not to disgrace me by exposing what is secret of my (acts), which (only) You are aware of, (wa lâ tafdhahanî bi-khafiyyi ma-t-tala`ta `alayhi min sirrî) Du`á al-Kumayl ØãWBÒáÃág Ø㶠âÐâXåÃãÇá® CÆ ÔáÃá® ãUáQÒâ»â¯ÂCãQ ØãËåÃã_Cá¯âW Ù áÑ not to hasten the punishment of what I have done secretly, (wa lâ to`âjilnî bi-l-`oqûbati `alâ mâ `amiltoho fî khalawâtî) Du`á al-Kumayl ØãWáAC~~~~~sH áÑ ØãÃå¯ã¶ ãAÒâs åÌ~~~ã~Æ such as, my ugly deeds, my offences, (min sû’i fi`lî wa isâ’atî) Du`á al-Kumayl ØãXáÂCÏá_ áÑ Øã§Öãoå·áW ãÅBÑáj áÑ my continuous negligence, my ignorance, (wa dawâmi tafrîtî wa jahâlatî ) Du`á al-Kumayl ØãXáÃå·á² áÑ ØãWBÒáÏ~~~á~w ãTáoå\á¾ áÑ my manifold passions, and my forgetfulness. (wa kathrati shahawâtî wa ghaflatî) Du`á al-Kumayl æC¶ÑâJán ãÁBáÒåcÛB ëÄâ¾ Ø㶠Øã áÀãWéqã¯ãQ éÈâÏäÃÂB ãÌâ¾ áÑ O Alláh! By Your might, Be compassionate to me in all circumstances, (wa kon-allâhomma bi-`izzatatika lî fî-l-ahwâli kollihâ ra’ûfan) Du`á al-Kumayl æC¶Òâ§á® ãnÒâÆÛB ã°~~~×ãÇá_ Ø㶠éØáÃá® áÑ and have grace on me on all matters. (wa `alayya fî jamî`-il-omûri `atûfan) Du`á al-Kumayl ØëQán áÑ ØãÏÂH My God and my Lord! (ilâhî wa rabbî) Du`á al-Kumayl Õëo⢠á¸~~åxá¾ âÐâÂGåsF á½âoå×á² Øã åÌáÆ Whom can I ask beside You, to remove my affliction, (Man lî ghyroka as’aloho, kachfa dhorrî) Du`á al-Kumayl ÕãoåÆF Ø㶠áo~~~~~á«éËÂB áÑ and to look into my affairs? (wa-n-nadhara fî amrî)) Du`á al-Kumayl áÕÙåÒáÆ áÑ ØãÏÂH My God and my Protector! (Ilâhî wa Mawlâya) Du`á al-Kumayl Øãtå·áÊ ÓáÒáÎ ãÐ×㶠âYå¯áRéWH æCÇå¿âc éØáÃá® áYåÖáoå_F You have laid on me rules (to follow), but I followed my own whims. (ajrayta `alayya hokman ittab`to fîhi hawâ nafsî) Du`á al-Kumayl ÕêÑâk~~á~® ãÌ×ãÖåqáW åÌ~~~ãÆ ãÐ×㶠årãoáXåcF åÈá áÑ I did not remain wary of adorning my enemy. (wa lam ahtaris fîhi min tazyîni `adowwî) Du`á al-Kumayl ÓáÒåÎF CÇãQ ØãÊéoá³á¶ Therefore, he was (able to) deceive me through my desires, (fa-gharranî bi-mâ ahwâ) Du`á al-Kumayl âAC£á»ÂB áÀãÂál ÔáÃá® âÍáká¯~~~~åsF áÑ and destiny favored him in this (matter). (wa as`adaho `alâ thâlik-al-qadhâ’o) Du`á al-Kumayl á½ãjÑâkâc á¤å¯áQ áÀãÂál åÌãÆ éØáÃá® Óáoá_ CÇãQ âVåpáÑC`áXᶠThus I exceeded Your limits by violation of Your rules, (fa-tajâwazto bi-mâ jarâ `alayya min thâlika ba`dha hodûdika) Du`á al-Kumayl á½ãoãÆBáÑF á¤å¯áQ âYå·áÂCág áÑ and disobeyed some of Your commands. ( wa khâlafto ba`dha awâmirika) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀãÂál ã°×ãÇá_ Ø㶠éØáÃá® âUé`âdÂB áÀáÃᶠTherefore, Yours is the argument against me in all of that, (falaka-l-hamdo `alayya fî jamî`i thâlika) Du`á al-Kumayl á½âJC£áº ãÐ×㶠éØáÃá® Óáoá_ CÇ×㶠Øã áUé`âc Ù áÑ and I have no argument (regarding) Your judgment against me, (wa lâ hojjata lî fî mâ jarâ `alayya fîhi qadhâ’oka) Du`á al-Kumayl á½âJÚáQ áÑ áÀâÇå¿âc ØãËáÆáqåÂF áÑ nor in what Your decree and tribulation imposed upon me. (wa alzamanî hokmoka wa balâ’ok-a) Du`á al-Kumayl Õão×ã|å»áW ákå¯áQ ØãÏÂH CÖ áÀâXå×áWF åkẠáÑ I come to You, My God, after my shortcoming, (wa qad ataytoka yâ ilâhî ba`da taqsîrî) Du`á al-Kumayl Øãtå·áÊ ÔáÃá® Øã¶BáoåsH áÑ and my immoderation against myself, (wa isrâfî`alâ nafsî) Du`á al-Kumayl æCÆãjCáÊ æBnãmáXå¯âÆ proffering my excuse, regretful, (mo`tathiran nâdiman) Du`á al-Kumayl ææÚ×ã»áXåtâÆ æBoãtá¿åËâÆ broken, apologizing, (monkasiran mostaqîlan) Du`á al-Kumayl æCRå×ãËâÆ æBoã·å³áXåtâÆ asking forgiveness, repenting, (mostaghfiran monîban) Du`á al-Kumayl æC¶ãoáXå¯âÆ æCËã®åmâÆ æBëoã»âÆ acknowledging, submissive, confessing. (moqirran moth`inan mo`tarifan) Du`á al-Kumayl ØëËãÆ áÉCá¾ CéÇãÆ æBéoá·áÆ âkã_F Ù I do not find any way out from what I have done, (lâ ajido mafarran mimmâ kâna minnî) Du`á al-Kumayl ÕãoåÆF Ø㶠ãÐå×áÂH âÐé_áÒáWF æC®áqå·áÆ Ù áÑ nor any place of refuge to turn to about my affairs, (wa lâ mafza`an atawajjaho ilayhi fî amrî) Du`á al-Kumayl Õãnåmâ® áÀãÂÒâRẠáoå×á² other than Your acceptance of my apology, (ghayra qabûlika `othrî) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀãXáÇåcán åÌãÆ èUá¯ás Ø㶠áÕCéÖH áÀãÂCágåjH áÑ and Your entering me into the range of Your mercy. (wa id-khâlika iyyâya fî sa`atin min rahmatik-a) Du`á al-Kumayl Õãnåmâ® åÄáRåºCᶠéÈâÏäÃÂB O Alláh! Therefore, accept my apology, (Allâhomma f-aqbal `othrî) Du`á al-Kumayl Õëo⢠áTékãw åÈácånB áÑ have mercy upon the severity of my affliction, (wa-rham shiddata dhorrî) Du`á al-Kumayl ØãºC[ãÑ ëkáw åÌãÆ ØãËé¿â¶ áÑ and free me from the tightness of my chains. (wa fokkanî min shaddi wathâqî) Du`á al-Kumayl ØãÊákáQ á¸å¯á¢ åÈácånB ëPán C~á~Ö O Lord! Have mercy upon the weakness of my body, (yâ Rab-b-irham dho`fa badanî) Du`á al-Kumayl ÕãkåÃã_ áUéºãn áÑ the thinness of my skin, (wa riqqata jildî) Du`á al-Kumayl Øãså«á® áUéºãj áÑ and the frailty of my bones. (wa diqqata `adhmî) Du`á al-Kumayl Õãoå¾ãl áÑ Øã»åÃág FákáQ åÌáÆ C~~Ö O You who gave rise to my creation, my remembrance, (yâ man bada’a khalaqî wa thikrî) Du`á al-Kumayl ØãXáÖãmå³áW áÑ ÕëoãQ áÑ ØãXá×ãQåoáW áÑ my upbringing, my welfare and nourishment, (wa tarbiyatî wa birrî wa tagh-thiyatî) Du`á al-Kumayl ØãQ á½ëoãQ ã¸ãÂCs áÑ áÀãÆáoá¾ ãABkãXåQãÙ ØãËåRáÎ bestow upon me, for the sake of Your having given rise (to me), with generosity, and Your previous goodness to me! ( habnî l-ibtidâ’i karamika wa sâlifi birrika bî) Du`á al-Kumayl ØëQán áÑ Õãkë×ás áÑ ØãÏÂH CÖ O my God, my Master, and my Lord! (yâ ilâhî wa sayyidî wa rabbî) Du`á al-Kumayl á½ãk×ãcåÒáW ákå¯áQ á½ãnCáËãQ ØãQëmá¯âÆ á½BáoâWF Can You see me punished with Your fire after my belief in Your unity, (atorâka mo`ath-thibî bi-nârika ba`da tawhîdika) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀãXá¶ãoå¯áÆ åÌãÆ ØRåÃẠãÐå×áÃá® ÓÒá§åÊB CÆákå¯ãQ áÑ after my heart recognizes You, (wa ba`da mâ-ntawâ `alayhî min ma`rifatika) Du`á al-Kumayl á½ãoå¾ãl åÌãÆ ØãÊCtã ãÐãQ áaãÏá áÑ and my tongue speaks continuously of Your remembrance, (wa lahija bihi lisânî min thikrika) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀëRâc åÌãÆ Õão×ãÇᢠâÍáká»áXå®B áÑ and my mind believes in Your love? (wa-’taqadaho dhamîrî min hobbika) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀáXé×ãQÒâQâoã æC¯ã¢Cg ØãMC®âj áÑ Øã¶BoãX®B ã¹åkã{ ákå¯áQ áÑ After my true confession and humble supplication to Your lordship? (wa ba`da sidq-i`tirâfî wa do`â’î khâdhi`an lirobûbiyyatika) Du`á al-Kumayl âÐáXå×éQán åÌáÆ á°ë×á£âW åÉF åÌãÆ âÅáoå¾F áY~~å~ÊF áVCÏå×áÎ Far be it from You! You are too generous to abandon one whom You have nurtured, (hayhâta anta akramo min ann todhayyi`a man rabbaytaho) Du`á al-Kumayl âÐáXå×áÊåjF åÌáÆ ákë¯áRâW åÑF or to push away from (Your mercy) one whom You have (already) brought near, (aw tob`ida man adnaytaho) Du`á al-Kumayl âÐ~~~á~XåÖáÑD åÌáÆ ájëoáxâW åÑF or to drive away one whom You have given shelter, (aw tosharrida man âwaytaho) Du`á al-Kumayl âÐáXåsãcán áÑ âÐáXå×á·á¾ åÌáÆ ãAÚáRÂB ÔáÂH áÈëÃátâW åÑF or to leave to misfortune one whom You have spared and shown mercy. (aw tosallima ilâ-l-balâ’i man kafaytaho wa rahimtaho) Du`á al-Kumayl áÕÙåÒáÆ áÑ ØãÏÂH áÑ Õãkë×ás CÖ Õãoå¯ãw áYå×áÂáÑ I wish I knew, O my Master, my God, my Protector, (wa layta shi`rî, yâ sayyidî, wa ilâhî, wa mawlâya) Du`á al-Kumayl æTákã_C~~~~~á~s áÀãXáÆ«á¯ã åVéo~~á~g èÍÒ~~â_âÑ ÔÃá® ánCéËÂB â¨ëÃátâWF how You could impose fire on faces, which fall down prostrating to Your magnificence, (atosallit-on-nâra `alâ wojûhin kharrat li`adhamatika sâjidah) Du`á al-Kumayl á½ãoå¿ãxâQ áÑ æUáºãjC{ á½ãk×ãcåÒáXãQ åYá»á§áÊ èÌ~â~tÂF Ô~~~á~Ãá® áÑ æUácãjCÆ And on tongues which have already sincerely declared Your unity, and have always been thankful, (wa `alâ alsonin nataqat bi- tawhidika sâdiqah Du`á al-Kumayl æUá»ë»ádâÆ áÀãXé×ãÏÂIãQ åYá¶áoáXå®B èPåÒâÃ⺠ÔáÃá® áÑ and on hearts which surely acknowledge Your divinity, (wa `alâ qolûbin i`tarafat bi-ilâhiyyatika Du`á al-Kumayl åVánCá{ ÔéXác áÀãQ ãÈåÃã¯ÂB áÌãÆ åVáÒác áoãMCÇᢠÔÃá® áÑ æUá¯ãwCg and on minds which possess knowledge of You until they become humble, (wa `alâ dhamâ’irin hawat min-al-`ilmi bika hattâ Du`á al-Kumayl æUá¯ãMC¦ á½ãkêRá¯áW ãÉC¦åÑF ÔáÂH åYá¯~~~á~s ábãnBáÒá_ ÔÃá® áÑ and on limbs which obediently moved to places of Your worship, (wa `alâ jawârihin sa`at ilâ awtâni ta`abbodika tâ’i`ah) Du`á al-Kumayl æUáËã®åmâÆ á½ãnC·å³ãX~å~sCãQ åVánC~~wF áÑ and beckoned for Your forgiveness in submission. (wa ashârat b-istighfârika moth`inah) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀãQ êÌé«ÂB Bmá¿Î CÆ No such opinion is held of You! (mâ hâkathâ-dh-dhanno bika) Du`á al-Kumayl âÈåÖãoá¾ CÖ áÀåËá® áÀãÃå£á·ãQ CÊåoãRågâF Ù áÑ Nor have we heard of (such a result), thanks to Your bounty, concerning You, O the most Generous. (wa lâ okhbirnâ bi-fadhlika `anka yâ karîm-o) Du`á al-Kumayl C×åÊêkÂB ãAÚáQ åÌãÆ èÄ×ãÃẠåÌá® Øã·å¯á¢ âÈáÃå¯áW áYåÊF áÑ ëPán CÖ CÏãWCQåÒâ»â® áÑ O Lord! You know my weakness (to endure) a small portion of worldly misfortune, its punishments and difficulties, (yâ rabbi wa anta ta`lamo dha`fî `an qalîlin min Du`á al-Kumayl CÏãÃåÎF ÔÃá® ãÍãnC¿áÇÂB áÌãÆ CÏ×㶠Õãoå`áÖ CÆ áÑ which fall upon its inhabitants, (wa mâ yajrî fîhâ min-al-makârihi `alâ ahlihâ) Du`á al-Kumayl âÍJC»áQ ço×ãtáÖ âÐâ\å¿áÆ çÄ×ãÃẠçÍÑâoå¿áÆ áÑ çAÚáQ áÀãÂl éÉF ÔÃá® âÐâWékâÆ ço×|Ạeven though it is a misfortune and difficulty, whose stay is short, whose subsistence is little, and whose duration is short. (`alâ anna thalika balâ’on wa makrûhon qalîlon Du`á al-Kumayl ãTáoãgÝB ãAÚáRã ØãÂCÇãXåcB á¸å×á¿á¶ How then can I bear the misfortune of the hereafter, (fakayf-a-htimâli li-balâ’-il-âkhirati) Du`á al-Kumayl CÏ×㶠ãÍãnC¿áÇÂB ãÒâºâÑ ãÄ×ãÃá_ áÑ and the occurrence of difficulties within it? (wa jalîli woqû`-il-makârihi fîhâ) Du`á al-Kumayl âÐâWékâÆ âÁÒâ§áW çAÚáQ áÒâÎ áÑ For it is a misfortune whose duration will be long, (wa-howa balâ’on tatûlo moddatoho) Du`á al-Kumayl âÐâÆC»áÆ âÅÑâkáÖ áÑ whose situation will continue, (wa yadûmo maqâmoho) Du`á al-Kumayl ãÐãÃåÎF åÌá® â¸é·áhâÖ ÙáÑ and whose sufferers are given no respite, (wa lâ yokhaffafo `an ahlihi) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀã§áhás áÑ áÀãÆC»ãXåÊB áÑ áÀãRá£á² åÌá® ÙH âÉÒâ¿áÖ Ù âÐéÊÛ because it occurs as a result of Your wrath, vengeance, and anger, (la-annaho lâ yakûno illâ `an ghadhabika w-anti- Du`á al-Kumayl â¡ånÛB áÑ âVBÑCÇétÂB âÐá âÅÒâ»áW Ù CÆ BmÎ áÑ and these cannot be withstood by the Heavens and the Earth. (wa hâthâ mâ lâ taqûmo laho-s-samâwâto wa-lardh-o) Du`á al-Kumayl ØãQ á¸å×á¿á¶ Õãkë×ás CÖ O my Master! So what about me? (yâ sayyidî fa-kayfa bî) Du`á al-Kumayl âÌ×ã¿åtãÇÂB âo×ã»ádÂB âÄ×ãÂémÂB â¸×ã¯é£ÂB á½âkåRá® CÊF áÑ âÌ×ã¿áXåtâÇÂB For I am Your weak, insignificant, low, poor, and humble servant. (wa anâ `abdok-adh-dha` îf-oth-thalîl-ol-haqîr olmiskîn-ol-mostakîn) Du`á al-Kumayl áÕÙåÒáÆ áÑ Õãkë×ás áÑ ØëQán áÑ ØãÏÂH CÖ O my God, my Lord, my Master, and my Protector! (yâ Ilâhî wa Rabbî wa Sayyidî wa Mawlâya) Du`á al-Kumayl Òâ¿åwF áÀå×áÂH ãnÒâÆÛB ëÕÛ About which of my affairs shall I complain to You, (li-ayy-il-omûri ilayka ashkû) Du`á al-Kumayl Øã¿åQF áÑ êaã¢F CÏåËãÆ CÇã áÑ and for which shall I lament and weep? (wa li-mâ minhâ adhijjo wa abkî) Du`á al-Kumayl ãÐãWékãw áÑ ãPBmá¯ÂB ãÈ×ãÂÛ For the grievous punishment and its intensity, (li-alîm-il `athâbi wa shiddatihi) Du`á al-Kumayl ãÐãWékâÆ áÑ ãAÚáRÂB ãÁÒâ§ã åÅF or for the length of misfortune and its duration? (am li-tûl-il-balâ’i wa moddatihi) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀãMBkå®F á°áÆ ãVCQÒâ»â¯åÃã ØãËáWåoé×á{ åÌãNáÃᶠTherefore, if You take me to the punishment with Your enemies, (fala’in sayyartanî li-l-`oqûbâti ma`a a`dâ’ika) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀãMÚáQ ãÄåÎF áÌå×áQ áÑ ØãËå×áQ áYå¯áÇá_ áÑ gather me with the people of Your misfortunes, (wa jama`ta baynî wa bayna ahli balâ’ika) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀãMC×ãÂåÑF áÑ áÀãMCéRãcF áÌå×áQ áÑ ØãËå×áQ áYåºéoᶠáÑ and separate me from those who love You and those who adore You, (wa farraqta baynî wa bayna ahibbâ’ika wa awliyâ’ika) Du`á al-Kumayl ØëQán áÑ áÕÙåÒáÆ áÑ Õãkë×ás áÑ ØãÏÂH CÖ ØãËåRáÏᶠthen, O my God, my Master, my Lord, (fa-habnî yâ Ilâhî wa Sayyidî wa Mawlâya wa Rabbî) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀãQBámá® ÔÃá® âVåoáRá{ suppose that I am patient with Your punishment, (sabarto `alâ `athâbika) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀãºBo㶠ÔÃá® âoãRå{F á¸å×á¿á¶ how then, would I be patient with my separation from You? (fakayfa asbiro `alâ firâqika) Du`á al-Kumayl á½ãnCÊ ëoác ÔÃá® âVåoáRá{ ØãËåRáÎ áÑ Suppose that I would be patient with the heat of Your fire, (wa habnî sabarto`alâ harri nârika) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀãXáÆBoá¾ ÔÂB ão~á~«éËÂB ãÌá® âoãRå{F á¸å×á¿á¶ how then, would I endure not looking up to Your generosity? (fakayfa asbiro `an-in-nadhari ilâ karâmatika) Du`á al-Kumayl á½âÒå·á® ØãMC_án áÑ ãnCéËÂB Ø㶠âÌâ¿åsF á¸å×á¾ åÅF Or how would I dwell in fire, while I hope for Your forgiveness? (am kayfa askono fî-n-nâri wa rajâ’î `afwoka) Du`á al-Kumayl æCºãjC{ âÈãtåºâF áÕÙåÒáÆ áÑ Õãkë×ás CÖ áÀãWéqã¯ãRᶠI swear by Your might, O my Master and my Protector! (fa-bi-`izzatika yâ Sayyidî wa Mawlâya oqsimo sâdiqan) Du`á al-Kumayl æC»ã¦CÊ ØãËáXå¾áoáW åÌãNá if You leave me with (the power) of speech, (la’in taraktanî nâtiqan) Du`á al-Kumayl áÌå×ãÃãÆÝB áaå×ã`ᢠCÏãÃåÎF áÌå×áQ áÀå×áÂH éÌé`ã¢Û I will cry out to You from among the inhabitants (of Hell) like those who cry out of hope, (la-adhijjanna bayna ahlihâ dhajîj-al-âmilîn-a) Du`á al-Kumayl áÌ×ãgãoå|áX~~~åtâÇÂB áfBoâ{ áÀå×áÂH éÌá~~gâoå{Û áÑ I will scream like those who scream (for help), (wa la-asrokhanna ilayka sorâkh-al-mostasrikhîna) Du`á al-Kumayl áÌÖãkãºC·ÂB áAC~~~~~~~á¿âQ áÀå×áÃá® éÌá×ã¿åQÛ áÑ I will weep like those who have lost hope, (wa la-abkiyyna `alayka bokâ’-al-fâqidîn-a) Du`á al-Kumayl áÌ×ãËãÆåKâÇÂB éØãÂáÑ CÖ áYåËâ¾ áÌåÖF áÀéËáÖãjCÊâÛ áÑ and I will call You (saying), “Where are You, O the Protector of believers! (wa la-onâdiyannaka ayna konta yâ waliyy-almo’minîn-a) Du`á al-Kumayl áÌ×ã¶ãnC¯ÂB ãÁCÆD áUáÖC² CÖ O Goal of the hopes of those who know (You)! (yâ ghâyata âmâl-il-`ârifîn-a) Du`á al-Kumayl áÌ×ã\å×ã³áXåtâÇÂB áZC×ã² CÖ O the Helper of those who appeal for help! ( yâ ghiyâth-al-mostaghîthîn-a) Du`á al-Kumayl áÌ×ãºãjCé|ÂB ãPÒâÃ⺠áSå×ãRác CÖ O the Beloved of the sincere! (yâ habîba qolûb-is-sâdiqîn-a) Du`á al-Kumayl áÌ×ãÇáÂC¯ÂB áÐÂH CÖ áÑ and O the Lord of the worlds!” (wa yâ ilâh-al-`âlamîn-a) Du`á al-Kumayl á½ãkåÇádãQ áÑ ØãÏÂH CÖ áÀáÊCdåRâs á½BoâXá¶F Can You see Yourself, Glory be to You, O my God, and Yours is the praise, (afatorâka sobhânaka yâ Ilâhî wa bi-hamdika) Du`á al-Kumayl èÈãÃåtâÆ èk~åRá® áVåÒá{ CÏå×㶠â°áÇåtáW hearing within the fire, the voice of a submissive servant, (tasm`o fîhâ sawta `abdin moslimin) Du`á al-Kumayl ãÐãXá·áÂChâÇãQ CÏå×㶠áÌã`âs who is imprisoned within (the fire) because of his disobedience, (sojina fîhâ bi-mokhâlafatih-i) Du`á al-Kumayl ãÐãXá×ã|å¯áÇãQ CÏãQBmá® áÈå¯á¦ á¹Bl áÑ tasting the flavor of its punishments for his resistance, (wa thâqa ta`ma `athâbihâ bi-ma`siyatih-i) Du`á al-Kumayl ãÐãWáoåÖãoá_ áÑ ãÐãÆåoâ`ãQ CÏãºCRå¦F áÌå×áQ áuãRâc áÑ confined within the layers (of the Hell) for his sins and crimes, (wa hobisa bayna atbâqihâ bi-jormihi wa jarîratih-i) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀãXáÇåcáoã èÄëÆáKâÆ áaå×ã`ᢠáÀå×áÂH êaã£áÖ áÒâÎ áÑ while he cries as one who hopes for Your mercy, (wa-howa yadhijjo ilayka dhajîja mo’ammilin liRahmatik-a) Du`á al-Kumayl á½ãk×ãcåÒáW ãÄåÎF ãÉCtãÃãQ áÀåÖãjCËâÖ áÑ calls You with the tongue of those who profess Your unity, (wa yonâdîka bi-lisâni ahli tawhîdik-a) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀãXé×ãQÒâQâoãQ áÀå×áÂH âÄésáÒáXáÖ áÑ and requests You by Your lordship! (wa yatawassalo ilayka bi-Robûbiyyatik-a) Du`á al-Kumayl ãPBmá¯ÂB Ø㶠ԻåRáÖ á¸å×á¿á¶ áÕÙåÒáÆ CÖ O my Protector! Then how (can Your servant) remain in pain, ( yâ Mawlâya fakayfa yabqâ fî-l-`athâbi) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀãsåÃãc åÌãÆ á¸áÃás CÆ Òâ_åoáÖ áÒâÎ áÑ while he has hope for Your past leniency? (wa-howa yarjû mâ salafa min hilmika) Du`á al-Kumayl ânCéËÂB âÐâÇãÂåKâW á¸å×á¾ åÅF Or how can the fire hurt him, (am kyfa to’limoho-n-nâro) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀáXáÇåcán áÑ áÀáÃå£á¶ âÄâÆGÖ áÒâÎ áÑ while he has hope in Your kindness and compassion? (wa-howa ya’malo fadhlaka wa Rahmatak-a) Du`á al-Kumayl CáÏâRå×ãÏá âÐâºãoådâÖ á¸å×á¾ åÅF Or how can the fire hurt him, (am kayfa yohriqoho lahîbohâ) Du`á al-Kumayl âÐáÊC¿áÆ ÓoáW áÑ âÐáWåÒá{ â°áÇåtáW áYåÊF áÑ while You hear his voice and see his place? (wa anta tasma`o sawtaho wa tarâ makânah-o) Du`á al-Kumayl CÎâo×ã¶áp ãÐå×áÃá® âÄãÇáXåxáÖ á¸å×á¾ åÅF Or how can the exhaling (of the fire) cover him, (am kayfa yashtamilo `alayhî zafîrohâ) Du`á al-Kumayl âÐá·å¯á¢ âÈáÃå¯áW áYåÊF áÑ while You know his weakness? (wa anta ta`lamo dha`fah-o) Du`á al-Kumayl CÏãºCRå¦F áÌå×áQ âÄá»åÃá»áXáÖ á¸å×á¾ åÅF Or how can he be immersed in its layers, (am kayfa yataqalqalo bayna atbâqihâ) Du`á al-Kumayl âÐáºåkã{ âÈáÃå¯áW áYåÊF áÑ while You know his sincerity? (wa anta ta`lamo sidqah-o) Du`á al-Kumayl CÏâXá×ãÊCQáp âÍâoâ_åqáW á¸å×á¾ åÅF Or how can the (fire’s) guards hold him back, (am kayfa tazjoroho zabâniyatohâ) Du`á al-Kumayl âÍCéQán CÖ áÀÖãjCËâÖ áÒâÎ áÑ while he calls out to You, “O my Lord!” (wa-howa yonâdîka yâ Rabbah) Du`á al-Kumayl CÏå×㶠âÐá¾âoåXáXᶠCÏåËãÆ ãÐã»åXã® Ø㶠áÀáÃå£á¶ Òâ_åoáÖ á¸å×á¾ åÅF Or how should he have hope of Your grace in freeing him from the fire while You abandon him within it? (am kayfa yarjû fadhlaka fî `itqihi minhâ Du`á al-Kumayl áÀãQ âÌé~«ÂB áÀãÂl CÆ áVCÏå×áÎ Far be it from You! That is not expected of You, (hayhâta mâ thâlika-dh-dhanno bika) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀãÃå£á¶ åÌãÆ âµÑâoå¯áÇÂB Ù áÑ nor is it known of Your grace, (wa lâ-I-ma`rûfo min fadhlika) Du`á al-Kumayl á½éoãQ åÌãÆ áÌÖãkëcáÒâÇÂB ãÐãQ áYå~ÃáÆC® CÇã äÐãRåxâÆ Ù áÑ áÀãÊCtåcH áÑ nor is it similar to the kindness and generosity with which You have treated the believers in Your unity. (wa lâ moshbihon limâ `âmalta bihi-I-mowah- Du`á al-Kumayl áÀÖãkãcC_ ãSÖãmå¯áW åÌãÆ ãÐãQ áYåÇá¿ác CÆ ÙåÒá â°á§åºF ãÌ×ã»á×ÂCãRᶠTherefore, I am certain that had You not decreed punishment for the disbelievers in You, (fa-bil-yaqîni aqta`o lawlâ mâ hakamta bihi min Du`á al-Kumayl áÀÖãkãÊC¯âÆ ãjÚågH åÌãÆ ãÐãQ áYå×á£áº áÑ and to leave the opposers (in the fire) that lasts forever, (wa qadhayta bihi min ikhlâdi mo`nidîk-a) Du`á al-Kumayl æCÆÚás áÑ æBjåoáQ CÏáÃâ¾ ánCéËÂB áYå~Ãá¯á`á then You would have made the fire totally cold and peaceful, (laja`lata-n-nâra kollahâ bardan wa salâma-n) Du`á al-Kumayl æCÆC»âÆ Ù áÑ æBéoá»áÆ CÏ×㶠èkácÛ áÉC¾ CÆ áÑ and no one would have any place in it, neither permanently, nor even for a short time. (wa mâ kânat li-ahadin fîhâ maqarran wa lâ moqâma-n) Du`á al-Kumayl áYåÇátåºF á½âJCÇåsF åYáséká»áW áÀéËã¿Â But You, Holy are Your Names, have sworn, (lâkinnaka taqaddast Asmâ'oka aqsamta) Du`á al-Kumayl áÌ×ã¯áÇå_F ãrCéËÂB áÑ ãUéËã`ÂB áÌãÆ áÌÖãoã¶C¿ÂB áÌãÆ CÎÜåÇáW åÉF that You will fill it with unbelievers from the jinn and humankind (alike), (ann tamla'ahâ min-al-kâfirîn-a, min-al-jinnati wan-nâsi ajma`în-a) Du`á al-Kumayl áÌÖãkãÊC¯âÇÂB CÏ×㶠ákëÃáhâW åÉF áÑ and that the unbelievers will last in it forever. (wa an tokhallida fîhâ-I-mo`ânidîn-a) Du`á al-Kumayl æCMãkáXåRâÆ áYåÃ⺠á½âJCËá[ éÄá_ áYåÊF áÑ And You, great is Your praise, said in the beginning, (wa anta jalla thanâ'oka qolta mobtadi'an) Du`á al-Kumayl æCÆëoá¿áXâÆ ãÅC¯åÊßCãQ áYåÂéÒá§áW áÑ and (by Your) generosity, extended the grace, (wa tatawwalta bi-I-in`âmi motakarriman) Du`á al-Kumayl áÉÑâÒáXåtáÖ Ù æC»ãsC¶ áÉC¾ åÌáÇá¾ æCËãÆåKâÆ áÉC¾ åÌáÇá¶F “Is he who is a believer like the one who is not? No they cannot be alike.” (32:18) (Afaman kâna mo'minan kaman kâna fâsiqan lâ yastawûn) Du`á al-Kumayl Õãkë×ás áÑ ØãÏÂH O my Lord and my Master! (Ilâhî wa Sayyidî) Du`á al-Kumayl CÏáWånékẠØãXäÂB ãTánåkâ»åÂCãQ áÀâÂGåsG¶ I ask You, by the power which You have enforced, (fa-as'aloka bi-I-qodrat-il-latî qaddartahâ) Du`á al-Kumayl CÏáXåÇá¿ác áÑ CÏáXåÇáXác ØãXäÂB ãUé×ã£á»ÂCãQ áÑ by Your divine decree, which You have determined and imposed, (wa bil-qadhiyyat-il-latî hattamtahâ wa hakamtahâ) Du`á al-Kumayl CÏáXåÖáoå_F ãÐå×áÃá® åÌáÆ áYåRáÃá² áÑ and through which You have overcome him toward whom it has been put into effect, (wa ghalabta man`alayhi ajraytahâ) Du`á al-Kumayl ãUá®CätÂB ãÍãmÎ Ø㶠áÑ ãÐáÃå×äÃÂB ãÍãmÎ Ø㶠Øã áSáÏáW åÉF that You forgive me in this night, and at this moment, (ann tahaba lî fî hâthihi-I- laylati wa fî hâthih-issâ`ati) Du`á al-Kumayl âÐâXåÆáoå_F èÅåoâ_ éÄâ¾ every offence I have committed, (kolla jormin ajramtoho) Du`á al-Kumayl âÐâXåRáÊålF èSåÊál éÄâ¾ áÑ every sin I have performed, (wa kolla thanbîn athnabtoho) Du`á al-Kumayl âÐâWånáoåsF èeå×ãRẠéÄâ¾ áÑ every ugly deed I have kept secret, (wa kolla qabîhin asrartoho) Du`á al-Kumayl âÐâXåÃãÇá® èÄåÏá_ éÄâ¾ áÑ every folly I have enacted, (wa kolla jahlin`amiltoho) Du`á al-Kumayl âÐâXåËáÃå®F åÑF âÐâXåÇáXá¾ whether kept secret, or disclosed, (katamtoho aw a`lantoho) Du`á al-Kumayl âÐâWåoáÏå~ªF åÑF âÐâXå×á·ågF concealed, or manifest, (akhfaytoho aw adh-hartoho) Du`á al-Kumayl áÌ×ãRãWC¿ÂB áÅBáoã¿ÂB CÏãWCRå[IãQ áVåoáÆF èUáNë×ás éÄâ¾ áÑ and every evil act which You have ordered the noble scribes to record, (wa kolla sayyi’atin amarta bi-ith-bâtihâ-I-kirâmal-kâtibîn-a) Du`á al-Kumayl ØëËãÆ âÉÒâ¿áÖ CÆ ã«å·ãdãQ åÈâÏáXåÃé¾áÑ áÌÖãmäÂB those whom You appointed to watch over what is done by me, (allathîna wakkaltahom bi-hifdhi mâ yakûno minnî) Du`á al-Kumayl ØãcãnBÒá_ á°áÆ éØáÃá® æBjÒâÏâw åÈâÏáXåÃá¯á_ áÑ and whom You made, along with my limbs, witnesses against me, (wa ja`altahom shohûdan`alayya ma`a jawârihî) Du`á al-Kumayl åÈãÏãMBnáÑ åÌãÆ éØáÃá® áSå×ãºäoÂB áYåÊF áYåËâ¾ áÑ And You are the Watcher over me from behind them, (wa konta Anta-r-Raqîba`alayya min warâ’ihim) Du`á al-Kumayl åÈâÏåËá® áØã·ág CÇã ákãÎCéxÂB áÑ and the witness of what is hidden from them, (wash-shâhida limâ khafiya`anhom) Du`á al-Kumayl âÐáWåoáXás áÀãÃå£á·ãQ áÑ âÐáXå×á·ågF áÀãXáÇåcáoãQ áÑ but through Your mercy You concealed it, and through Your grace covered it. (wa bi-Rahmatika akhfaytaho wa bi-fadhlika satartaho) Du`á al-Kumayl âÐáXåÂáqåÊW èoå×ág ëÄâ¾ åÌãÆ Øë«ác áoë¶áÒâW åÉF áÑ And (I ask You) that You increase my share of all the good You send down, (wa an towaffira hadh-dhî min kolli khayrin tonziloho) Du`á al-Kumayl âÐáXåÃé£á·W èÉCtåcH åÑF or kindness which You confer, (aw ihsânin tofadh-dhiloho) Du`á al-Kumayl âÐáWoáxáËáW èäoãQ åÑF or goodness You unfold, (aw birrin tanshoroho) Du`á al-Kumayl âÐá§átåRW è¹åpãn åÑF or provision You spread, (aw rizqin tabsotoho) Du`á al-Kumayl âÍâoã·å³áW èSåÊál åÑF or sins You forgive, (aw thanbîn taghfiroho) Du`á al-Kumayl âÍâoâXåtáW èI§ág åÑF or mistakes You conceal. (aw khata’in tastoroho) Du`á al-Kumayl ëPán CÖ ëPán CÖ ëPán CÖ O Lord! O Lord! O Lord! (Yâ Rabbi! Yâ Rabbi! Yâ Rabbi!) Du`á al-Kumayl áÕÙåÒáÆ áÑ Õãkë×ás áÑ ØãÏÂH CÖ O my God, my Master, my Protector, (yâ Ilâhî wa Sayyidî wa Mawlâya) Du`á al-Kumayl Øëºãn áÀãÂCÆ áÑ Master of my freedom! (wa Mâliki riqqî!) Du`á al-Kumayl ØãXá×ã{CÊ ãÍãká×ãQ åÌáÆ CÖ O He who in whose hands is my forelock, (yâ man bi-yadihi nâsiyatî!) Du`á al-Kumayl ØãXáËá¿åtáÆ áÑ Õëoâ£ãQ æCÇ×ãÃá® CÖ O He who knows my affliction and my misery, (yâ `Alîman bi-dhorrî wa maskanatî!) Du`á al-Kumayl ØãXáºC¶ áÑ Õãoå»á·ãQ æBoå×ãRág CÖ O He who is well acquainted with my poverty and need, (yâ khabîran bi-faqrî wa fâqatî!) Du`á al-Kumayl ëPán CÖ ëPán CÖ ëPán CÖ O Lord, O Lord, O Lord! (Yâ Rabbi! Yâ Rabbi! Yâ Rabbi!) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀãsåk⺠áÑ áÀë»ádãQ áÀâÂGåsF I ask You by Yourself, Your Holiness, (As’aloka bi-Haqqika wa Qodsika) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀãMCÇåsF áÑ áÀãWC·ã{ãÈá«å®F áÑ Your great Attributes and Names, (wa A`dhami ifâ-tika wa Asmâ’ika) Du`á al-Kumayl æTánÒâÇå¯áÆ á½ãoå¾ãmãQ ãnCÏéËÂB áÑ ãÄå×äÃÂB Ø㶠ØãWCºåÑF áÄá¯å`áW åÉF That You make my times in the night and the day inhabited by Your remembrance, (ann taj `ala awqâtî fî-I-Iayli wan-nahâri bithikrika ma`mûratan) Du`á al-Kumayl æUáÂÒâ{åÒáÆ áÀãXáÆåkãhãQ áÑ and joined to Your service, (wa bi-khidmatika maw-sûlatan) Du`á al-Kumayl æUáÂÒâRå»áÆ á½ákåËã® ØãÂCÇå®F áÑ and my deeds acceptable to You, (wa a`mâlî `indaka maqbûlatan) Du`á al-Kumayl æBkãcBÑ æBjånãÑ CÏêÃâ¾ ÕãjBnåÑF áÑ ØãÂCÇå®F áÉÒâ¿áW ÔäXác so that my deeds and my litanies may all become one litany, (hattâ takûna a`mâlî wa awrâdî kollohâ wirdan wâhidan) Du`á al-Kumayl æBkáÆåoás áÀãXáÆåkãg Ø㶠ØãÂCác áÑ and my (life be) devoted to Your service, eternally. ( wa hâlî fî khidmatika sarmadan) Du`á al-Kumayl ØãÂéÒá¯âÆ ãÐå×áÃá® åÌáÆ CÖ Õãkë×ás CÖ O my Master! O He upon whom I depend! (yâ Sayyidî! yâ Man`alayhi mo`awwalî!) Du`á al-Kumayl ØãÂBÒåcF âVåÒá¿áw ãÐå×áÂH åÌáÆ CÖ O He to whom alone I complain about my situation! (yâ man ilayhi shakawto ahwâlî!) Du`á al-Kumayl ëPán CÖ ëPán CÖ ëPán CÖ O Lord, O Lord, O Lord! (Yâ Rabbi! Yâ Rabbi! Yâ Rabbi!) Du`á al-Kumayl ØãcãnBÒá_ áÀãXáÆåkãg ÔÃá® ëÒẠStrengthen my limbs for Your service, (Qawwi `alâ khidmatika jawârihi) Du`á al-Kumayl ØãdãÊBÒá_ ãUáÇÖãqá¯ÂB ÔÃá® åjâkåwB áÑ fortify my ribs in determination, (wash-dod `alâ-I-`azîmati jawânihî) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀãXá×åxág Ø㶠ékã`ÂB áØã åSáÎ áÑ grant me eagerness in Your fear, (wa-hab liya-I-jidda fî khashyatika) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀãXáÆåkãhãQ ãÁC|ëWßB Ø㶠áÅBÑékÂB áÑ continuity in service to You, (wad-dawâma fîl-ittisâli bi-khidmatika) Du`á al-Kumayl áÌå×ã»ãQCétÂB ãÌåÖãjC×áÆ Ø㶠áÀå×áÂH ábáoåsF ÔäXác so that I may move towards You among those who are first in their fields, ( hattâ asraha ilayka fî mayâdîn-as-sâbiqîn-a) Du`á al-Kumayl áÌåÖãnãjCRâÇÂB Ø㶠áÀå×áÂH áãoåsâF áÑ hurry to You among those who are prominent, (wa osri`a ilayka fil-mobâdirîn-a) Du`á al-Kumayl áÌå×ãºCáXåxâÇÂB Ø㶠áÀãQåo⺠ÔÂH á¹CXåwF áÑ yearn toward Your nearness among those who are eager, (wa ashtaaqa ila qurbika fil-mushtaaqeen-a) Du`á al-Kumayl áÌå×ã|ãÃåhâÇÂB éÒâÊâj áÀåËãÆ áÒâÊåjF áÑ become close to You with the closeness of those who are sincere, (wa adnuwa minka dunu-ul-mukhlisîin) Du`á al-Kumayl áÌå×ãËãºåÒâÇÂB áUá¶CháÆ áÀá¶CágF áÑ fear You with the fear of those who are certain, (wa akhâfaka makhâfat-al-mûqinîn-a) Du`á al-Kumayl áÌå×ãËãÆKâÇÂB á°áÆ á½ãnBÒã_ Ø㶠á°ãÇáXå_F áÑ and join with the believers in Your presence. (wa ajtami`a fî jawârika ma`al-mominîn-a) Du`á al-Kumayl âÍåjãnGᶠèAÒâtãQ ØãÊájBnF åÌáÆ áÑ éÈâÏäÃÂB O Alláh! Whoever wishes me evil, wish him (the same), (Allâhomma wa man arâdanî bi-sû’in fa’arid-ho) Du`á al-Kumayl âÍåk~ã~¿á¶ ØãÊájC~~~~¾ åÌáÆ áÑ and whoever wants to deceive me, deceive him. (wa man kâdanî fa-kid-ho) Du`á al-Kumayl á½ákåËã® æCRå×~ã~|áÊ á½ãkå×ãRá® ãÌ~~á~tåcF åÌãÆ ØãËåÃá¯å_B áÑ Make me among the best of Your servants, (waj`alnî min ahsani`abîdika nasîban`indaka) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀåËãÆ æUáÂãqåËáÆ åÈãÏãQáoåºF áÑ the closest in status to You, (wa aqrabihim manzilatan minka) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀåÖáká æUá·åÂâp åÈãÏë|ágF áÑ the most privileged to You. (wa akhassihim zolfatan ladayka) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀãÃå£á·ãQ éÙH áÀãÂl âÁCËâÖ Ù âÐéÊI~ᶠFor that cannot be attained without Your grace. (fa-innaho lâ yonâlo thâlika illâ bi-fadhlika) Du`á al-Kumayl á½ãjÒâ`ãQ Øã åkâ_ áÑ Grant me generously, by Your generosity. (wa jod lî bi-Jûdika) Du`á al-Kumayl á½ãkå`áÇãQ éØáÃá® å¸ã§å®B áÑ Have sympathy toward me, by Your glory. (wa-`tif `alayyâ bi- Majdika) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀãXáÇåcáoãQ ØãËå~«á·åcB áÑ Protect me, by Your mercy. (wa-hfidhnî bi-Rahmatika) Du`á al-Kumayl æC`ãÏá á½ãoå¾ãmãQ ØãÊCtã åÄá¯å_B áÑ Make my tongue dedicated to Your remembrance, (wa-j`al lisânî bi-thikrika lahijan) Du`á al-Kumayl æCsé×áXâÆ áÀëRâdãQ ØãRåÃẠáÑ and my heart subservient to Your love. (wa qalbî bi-hobbika motayyman) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀãXáQC_H ãÌåtâdãQ éØáÃá® éÌâÆ áÑ Be gracious to me by answering me favorably, (wa monna`alayya bi-hosni ijâbatika) Du`á al-Kumayl ØãXéÂáp åoã·å²H áÑ ØãWáoå\á® ØãËåÃãºF áÑ prevent my stumbling, and forgive my lapses. (wa aqilnî `athratî wa-ghfir lî zallatî) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀãWájCRã¯ãQ á½ãjCRã® ÔÃá® áYå×á£áº áÀéÊI~ᶠFor You have demanded Your servants to worship You, (fa-innaka qadhayta`alâ `ibâdika bi-`ibâdatika) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀãMC®âkãQ åÈâÏáWåoáÆF áÑ ordered them to call upon You, (wa amartahom bi-do`â’ika) Du`á al-Kumayl áÀãWájCRã¯ãQ á½ãjCRã® ÔÃá® áYå×á£áº áÀéÊI~ᶠand assured them of Your fulfillment (of their requests). (wa dhaminta lahom-ol-ijâbata) Du`á al-Kumayl ØãÏå_áÑ âYåRá|áÊ ëPán CÖ áÀå×áÂI~ᶠTherefore toward You, O Lord, I have turned my face, (fa-ilayka yâ Rabbî nasabto wajhî) Du`á al-Kumayl ÕãkáÖ âVåjákáÆ ëPán CÖ áÀå×áÂH áÑ and toward You, O Lord, I have extended my hands. (wa ilyka yâ Rabbi madadto yadî) Du`á al-Kumayl ØãMC®âj Øã åSã`áXåsB áÀãWéqã¯ãRᶠSo by Your might, answer my supplication, (Fa-bi-`izzatik-astajib lî do`â’î) Du`á al-Kumayl áÕCËâÆ ØãËå³ëÃáQ áÑ make me attain my desire. (wa ballighnî monâya) Du`á al-Kumayl ØãMC_án áÀãÃå£á¶ åÌãÆ å°á§å»áW Ù áÑ Do not cut off, by Your grace, my hope, (wa lâ taqta` min fadhlika rajâ’î) Du`á al-Kumayl ØãMBkå®F åÌãÆ ãuåÊßB áÑ ëÌã`ÂB éoáw ØãËã·å¾B áÑ and protect me from the evil of my enemies from among the jinn and humankind. (wa-kfinî sharr-al-jinni wa-l-insi min a`dâ’î) Du`á al-Kumayl C¢ëoÂB á°Öãoás CÖ O He whose pleasure is quickly achieved! (yâ Sarî`-ar-Ridhâ!) Du`á al-Kumayl áAC®êkÂB ÙH âÀãÃåÇáÖ Ù åÌáÇã åoã·å²H Forgive him who has nothing but prayer, (Ighfir li-man lâ yamliko illâ-d-do`â’-o) Du`á al-Kumayl âACáxáW CÇã çÁCé¯á¶ áÀéÊIᶠfor You do what You please. (fa-innaka fa`-`âlon limâ tashâ’-o) Du`á al-Kumayl çABÑáj âÐâÇåsB åÌáÆ CÖ O He whose name is a remedy, (yâ man-Ismoho dawâ’-on) Du`á al-Kumayl çAC~~·ãw âÍâoå¾ãl áÑ whose remembrance is a cure, (wa thikroho shifâ’-on) Du`á al-Kumayl æÔáËã² âÐâXá®CᦠáÑ and whose obedience is wealth! (wa Tâ`atoto ghinan!) Du`á al-Kumayl âAC_äoÂB ãÐãÂCáÆ ârFán åÌáÆ åÈácånãB Have mercy on him whose capital is hope, (Irham man ra’so mâlihi-r-rajâ’-o) Du`á al-Kumayl âAC¿âRÂB âÐ~âcÚ~ã~s áÑ and whose weapon is tears. (wa silâ-hoh-ol-bokâ’-o) Du`á al-Kumayl ãÈá»ëËÂB á°ã¶Báj CÖ ãÈá¯ëËÂB á´ãQCs CÖ O He who provides ample blessings, and who removes misfortunes! (Yâ Sâbigh-an-ni`am-i ! yâ Dâfi`-an-niqam-i!) Du`á al-Kumayl ãÈáÃê~«ÂB Ø㶠áÌå×ãxãcåÒáXåtâÇÂB ánåÒâÊ CÖ O the Light of those who are lonely in darkness! (yâ Nûr-al-mostawhishîna fî-dh-dholam-i!) Du`á al-Kumayl âÈéÃá¯âÖ Ù æCÇãÂC® CÖ O He who knows without being taught! (yâ `aliman lâ yo`allam-o!) Du`á al-Kumayl èkéÇádâÆ ãÁD áÑ èk~~éÇádâÆ ÔÃá® ëÄá{ Bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, (salli `alâ Mohammadin wa âli Mohammad-in) Du`á al-Kumayl âÐâÃåÎF áY~å~ÊF CÆ ØãQ åÄá¯å¶B áÑ and do with me what is worthy of You. (wa-f `al bî mâ Anta Ahloho) Du`á al-Kumayl ãÐ~ãÂåÒ~â~Æn Ô~Ãá® âÐäÃÂB ÔéÃá{ áÑ And may Alláh bless His messenger, (wa sallâ-Allâho `alâ Rasûlihi) Du`á al-Kumayl ãÐãÃåÎF åÌãÆ Ìå×ãÆC×áÇÂB ãUéÇ~~ã~MÛB áÑ and the blessed Imams of his household, (wa-l-A’immat-il-mayâmîna min âlihi) Du`á al-Kumayl æBo×ã\~~á~¾ æCs×ãÃ~~åtáW áÈéÃ~~~ás áÑ and give them abundant peace! (wa sallama taslîman kathîrâ) Du`á al-Kumayl èkáäÆdâÆ ãÁB áÑ èkáäÆdâÆ ÔÃá® ãäÄá{ áäÈâÏäÃÂáB O Alláh send Your blessings on Muhammad and the family of Muhammad.
