UAE Waste Management Situation
Per capita waste generation
- 1.8 to 2 kilos/day
UAE daily waste generation
- 33,000 tonnes/day
UAE annual waste generation
- over ten million tones/year
Landfills Used
- 1800 hectares of lands
UAE Waste Management Goal
Ultimate Goal - To dump zero waste in landfills in the future
How:
1. Reduction of waste generation by 80 per cent by 2018
2. Encourage people to recycle
3. Increase awareness on proper waste management
4. Use latest technology on waste management
5. Implementation of waste management regulations and imposing tariff to major
waste generators
