Display Market -- LCD Driver Summary
-Demand about 8.1 billion chips per year, shipment growth about 8%~9%.
-- It needs beyond 360 million 8” wafers for LCD driver market, combined with driver
chip producing, it also needs huge requirements for assembly and test capacity. In one
word, the market value of driver IC is significantly huge.

Top 7 LCD IC vendors have about total 24 billion RMB revenue in last year, growing rate of
year is 5%~7%. Among it, about 40% of total revenue is for exporting to China main land
panel companies, growing rate of year for China main land market is beyond 10%.

Combined with growth of China panel producing volume, touch, TCON, Scalar and PMU are
all keeping growing fast. These areas are also the valuable investment area.
PS: Except Taiwan IC vendors, there are Korea IC companies which focus on LCD Driver IC

China Discrete TCON Market Analysis
• TV Market: TV is always a main revenue supplier since China TV market is
continuous increasing. China TV panel capacity is continuous increasing due to new
Gen.8 fab.
• Focus on low-end, middle-end market: HD & FHD 32”, 46” 55”.
• FHD 32” TV panel > 30M/year
• Thin/small border is needed even in main stream TV ★, this trend will introduce
new business chance for new player.
• Monitor Market: Monitor panel market is tended to shrink, but highresolution panel is increasing, e.g. gaming monitor.
• FHD/WUXGA is base line for new product. QHD and below resolution MNT panel
is still original LVDS interface.
• Upper than QHD panel is tended to use eDP interface.
• Notebook/Mobile PC Market: Even the notebook panel is decreasing in
the world market, China Panel vendor’s notebook panel volume is increasing from 2013
to 2014, due to cost advantages, NB or mobile PC panel is moving from Korea to China.
•Almost > 80% new NB panel projects are eDP interface.
