To reduce energy consumption
 To reduce utility bills
 To reduce the carbon footprint of the
facilities.
 To construct a heat pump heating
system coupled to solar thermal.

This heating system takes heat energy
directly from the sun and introduces it to
a heat pump.
 This method provides greater efficiency
based upon the principal that the
warmer the source water the less
electrical energy needed to provide
space heating.


If the heat energy collected is in excess of
the energy needed by the heat pump the
heat is rejected into the ground.

A portion of this energy can be returned to
the heat pump.

This system is designed so the heat pump
is supplied with the highest available
temperature, to maximize efficiency.

This system also reduces the heat load
normally coming from the earth, allowing
for:
 Decreased runtimes
 Smaller earth heat exchangers.
 Greater thermal recovery of the earth heat
exchanger.
 The
typical ground source heating
system considerably reduces ground
temperature over the course of the
heating season.
 This will cause a reduction of heat pump
efficiency.
Any system that uses a blower or circulator
to move air or liquid through solar
collectors, is classified as an active solar
thermal system.
 Nearly all liquid based active solar systems
use either a flat plate collector, evacuated
tube collector or a concentrating solar
panel to harvest the suns energy.

Solar thermal is a method for harnessing
solar energy for heat.
 The sun's heat can be used in multiple
ways in homes and businesses.

In one second the sun releases more energy than has
been used by mankind since the beginning of recorded
history.
In one hour more sunlight falls on the earth than what is
used by the entire population in one year.
