SPECIAL ENTRY ACCESS SCHEME
(SEAS)
 For some people, the chance to show their potential
for university study may have been limited due to
financial, geographical, cultural or personal
circumstances.
 This scheme allows us to give you special
consideration when applying for admission to an
undergraduate course.
 Eligibility
 You must be a citizen or permanent resident of
Australia, applying for an undergraduate course, who
meets at least one of the requirements.
Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS)
 Mature age
 Indigenous Australian
 Regional or remote school
 Non-English speaking background
 Born outside Australia in a non-English speaking
country and arrived in Australia in the last six years
(after 1 January 2009) - the initial entry stamp for
arrival in Australia
Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS)
 Difficult personal circumstances
 Circumstances impacting your senior secondary
schooling, which may include:
 being a refugee
 long-term serious illness or death of a family member
 abusive living environment: physical, psychological or
emotional abuse over extended period
 natural disaster such as drought, bushfire or flood.
Documentation Required - SEAS:
 Provide these statements:
 an impact statement outlining your circumstances and
how this has affected your preparation for tertiary study
 a statement of support from a medical practitioner,
lawyer, counselor, teacher, religious or community
leader.

 Disadvantaged financial background
 Disadvantaged financial circumstances including:
 individual or family poverty
 excessive financial obligations
 economic hardship (up to 10 points)
 If you receive a Centrelink benefit, provide one of the
following:


Centrelink Reference Number (CRN)
Customer Access Number (CAN)
 other evidence that you receive a benefit
Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS)
 If you don't receive a Centrelink benefit, provide:
 an impact statement outlining how your financial
circumstances have negatively affected your preparation
for tertiary study
 a statement of support from someone with knowledge
of your financial circumstances, such as a lawyer, social
worker, accountant

 Disability or medical condition
 A disability, impairment or medical condition that has
affected your studies, leading to disadvantage in your
preparation for tertiary study (up to 5 points)
 Provide these statements:
 about the nature and time period of your condition,
outlining how it has affected your preparation for
tertiary study
 a statement of support from a health professional.
