IBE meeting outcome
IBE will make 4 proposal one in each area:
•
Topic 1 (Cloud computing for science)
–
–
•
Topic 2 (Sustainable technologies)
–
–
•
At this time is only possible to identify potentially interested parties, namely: Brunel,
MINERVA (Dissemination), PUSP, ROME, UBL, NOVA, UNOCONSULTING
IBE will therefore need to monitor the situation with respect to the development of the call text
for this area.
Topic 3 (Smart Crowd Management)
–
–
•
ERASMUS UNIVERSITY GIVES ITS CANCER DATABASE
PUSP (Brazilian coordinator), Brunel (European coordinator), ERASMUS U , OSLO,
KARLSTAD, EUKNOW, PORTO, NOVA, ULB, MINERVA (for dissemination), PUSP will set
up an email reflector for the above group.
ROME (European coordinator), PUSP (Brazilian coordinator), BRUNEL (if London/Rio
Olympics link to be made), EUKNOW, KARLSTAD, MINERVA,(dissemination) PORTO,
UFSC, UBL, UNOCONSULTING
Prof Martucci will discuss this idea with University of Brasilia PUSP will set up an email
reflector for the above group.
Topic 4 (Hybrid broadcasting)
–
The existing consortium appears well established and PUSP will continue developing this
proposal on its current basis. IBE participants include Brunel and Santa Catarina.

The group also Erasmus Mundus (EU) discussed the programs Science
Without Borders (BRA), and Marie Curie (EU).
Erasmus Mundus:

Marie Curie:

•
It was agreed at the meeting that Erasmus Mundus was not a vehicle to be pursued by IBE.
It was also agreed that Marie Curie was not a vehicle that IBE should directly engage with.
Science Without Borders:

Prof. Martucci explained that the main Brazilian Universities had received extensive funding
for fellowships for the SWB program and were charged of the selection of the fellows.
There is still some lack of clarity about the operation of the SWB programme but it is only in
its early days so IBE will monitor its development and keep its participants updated on any
significant developments.
Professor Martucci emphasized that Brazil is open to working with European partners and
suggested all the partners who are interested be aware of the regulations of doctoral
programs of the Brazilian universities.
