Eligible countries 2012 Sweden and the following countries: Asia: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Iran, Rep. Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Viet Nam The Swedish Research Links Program Information from: Swedish Research Council Who may apply? Applicants for International Collaborative Research Grants are individual researchers who also serve as project leaders and http://www.vr.se have the scientific responsibility for the project. The application Research links must include at least two principal researchers: one affiliated to a university or research institution in Sweden and one affiliated to a university or research institution in a program country. Grant period International Collaborative Research Grants are awarded for a maximum of three years. Costs and grant amount The grant can be used to cover costs related to the international collaboration, such as research visits between the partners, seminars, workshops and joint publishing. The maximum amount for an International Collaborative Research Grant is SEK 250,000 (somewhat less than 25,000 EUR) per year, including indirect costs. The value of the research to equitable and sustainable development of society and/or to poverty reduction. The level of balance and mutuality between the partners based on the scientific merits of the co-applicants. Because of growing population and increasing evapotranspiration, the per capita water availability tends to shrink. This session seeks contributions on recent advances in science as well as in practical applications, including: - recent data from hydrological and hydrochemical monitoring in river basins located in continental and transboundary regions (e.g., Central Asia, Africa, Central Europe) with special emphasis on water resources assessments under changing climatic and social conditions, pollution loads and its spreading from source to recipient; - the environmental and socio-economic impacts of water-related problems and management responses; - case studies of transboundary water resources management and monitoring How to submit contribution EGU session "Hydrological and hydrochemical monitoring for water resources management in continental areas“ Conveners: • Sergey Chalov srchalov@rambler.ru • Daniel Karthe daniel.karthe@ufz.de • Jerker Jarsjö <jerker.jarsjo@natgeo.su.se> http://meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EGU2013/ sessionprogramme Special issue of EES journal Call for Papers ▪ Environmental Earth Sciences Special Issue Sustainable Water Resources Management in Central Asia Water quality: nutrient and sediment fluxes; chemical pollutants and their sources; monitoring and modelling approaches; emerging pollutants and pathogens; pollution impacts (on biota, human health, ...) • Ecosystem status: indicators for aquatic ecosystem health; links between aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems; holisitic assessment of ecosystem status; vulnerability and resilience of aquatic ecosystems • Water (body) usage: quantification of water use (including future scenarios); competing interests; problems associated with particular uses (e.g. mining sector, fishery, ...) • Water management: water governance - current vs. best practice; technical options - adapted and innovative technologies; capacity development - needs and strategies; participatory approaches • Concepts/strategies and their implementation: integrated monitoring concepts; integrated water resources management (IWRM), river basin management (RBM), urban water resources EES Special Issue Sustainable Water Management in Central Asia -Environmental Earth Sciences - Editorial Board: Daniel Karthe, Sergey Chalov, Saulyegul Avlyush, Dietrich Borchardt KEY TOPICS 1 Water Availability 2 Water Quality 3 Ecosystem Status 4 Water Usage 5 Water Management 6 Integrated Concepts Daniel Karthe German Funding Options for International Water Research 22
