Risk Behaviors

Actions that can potentially threaten
your health or the health of others




Not wearing seatbelt
Using tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs
Physical inactivity and poor nutrition
habits
Risky sexual behaviors
Cumulative Risks

Related risks that increase in effect
with each added risk, or
combinations of risky behaviors.

Examples: Smoking, eating a fast food
meal, not wearing a seat belt………can
you name any more???
Abstaining from risky behaviors

Abstinence is avoidance of harmful
behaviors


Tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs
Sexual activity, see pg. 20

On a piece of paper, divide the page
into three columns.



In the left column make a list of 5 risky
situations and behaviors.
In the center column describe potential
consequences or outcomes.
In the last column list ways to minimize
and/or abstain from those risks.
