History of Chinese people immigrating to
America. (Mid-1800s – Today)
Many came to US in 1997 after China regained control of Hong Kong.
In Chinese culture, boys are more important than girls.
In Chinese culture, family is important.
Basically, you drove everything for your family.

Young girls’ feet would be wrapped in cloth.
Big feet = ugly to their culture.
Physically deformed and ruined girls’ feet.
The custom died out in the 20 th century.
