MATLAB Codes
• The MATLAB renewal was impacted by
the SLS move from OCIO to Purchasing
– Funding questions were resolved
• Codes ceased functioning for new installs
at 9 AM, 8/28 (yesterday)
• New code received this AM
– Purchasing is sending codes to all open
requestors
– Codes available in Self Service (go.osu.edu/it)
MATLAB Codes:
Network Concurrent Licenses
• Created a new workflow in Self Service for
these codes
– Codes still need to be created by hand, but
this ensures correct information is collected
– The workflow is available during normal
MATLAB requests
• During the request for MATLAB, the system will
ask if it is a single machine, or a network server
request, and allow you to fill in the information.
MATLAB Network Codes
MATLAB Network Codes
MATLAB Network Codes
• If this process works well, we may
continue to expand it for other products
• The aim is to reduce the number of
requests that come to personal email
boxes
Minitab
• Through funding by the Fisher College of
Business and Statistics, there will be no cost
change for Minitab (it will remain free of
charge to end user)
• Renewal code is pending
• OCIO will update the license server so there
should not be an interruption in service
• Current license expires on Sunday
• Renewal of v. 16, upgrade to 17 next month
SLS Funding in Purchasing
• The move to Purchasing for Site Licensing
is complete
• Purchasing has different rules for funding
than OCIO did
• All products must be fully paid for by June
30
– No exceptions
SLS Funding in Purchasing
• Full-Funding of software requires changes to how
SLS interacts with the community
– Today, SLS operates on a mixture of cost-shares and
cost-per-copy purchases
– SLS began moving toward a larger cost-share version
in 2010 (SPSS, in particular)
– Purchasing has asked me to complete the conversion
• What this means: SLS will seek up-front funding
from OSU departments where possible
– Departments using the software heavily will be asked
to provide the budget to retain that software

PCards
• Are there other vendors
we know of out there?
• SLS is looking to
consolidate on a single
vendor, if possible
