Adobe CC and MS SQL MATLAB Codes • The MATLAB renewal was impacted by the SLS move from OCIO to Purchasing – Funding questions were resolved • Codes ceased functioning for new installs at 9 AM, 8/28 (yesterday) • New code received this AM – Purchasing is sending codes to all open requestors – Codes available in Self Service (go.osu.edu/it) MATLAB Codes: Network Concurrent Licenses • Created a new workflow in Self Service for these codes – Codes still need to be created by hand, but this ensures correct information is collected – The workflow is available during normal MATLAB requests • During the request for MATLAB, the system will ask if it is a single machine, or a network server request, and allow you to fill in the information. MATLAB Network Codes MATLAB Network Codes MATLAB Network Codes • If this process works well, we may continue to expand it for other products • The aim is to reduce the number of requests that come to personal email boxes Minitab • Through funding by the Fisher College of Business and Statistics, there will be no cost change for Minitab (it will remain free of charge to end user) • Renewal code is pending • OCIO will update the license server so there should not be an interruption in service • Current license expires on Sunday • Renewal of v. 16, upgrade to 17 next month SLS Funding in Purchasing • The move to Purchasing for Site Licensing is complete • Purchasing has different rules for funding than OCIO did • All products must be fully paid for by June 30 – No exceptions SLS Funding in Purchasing • Full-Funding of software requires changes to how SLS interacts with the community – Today, SLS operates on a mixture of cost-shares and cost-per-copy purchases – SLS began moving toward a larger cost-share version in 2010 (SPSS, in particular) – Purchasing has asked me to complete the conversion • What this means: SLS will seek up-front funding from OSU departments where possible – Departments using the software heavily will be asked to provide the budget to retain that software Products that may be affected by new funding processes • • • • SAS NVivo SigmaPlot SPSS, MATLAB, SYSTAT – OCIO Shares need to be replaced in these products before FY16 starts • Already updated products: – Minitab – PowerTerm – JMP & Genomics Autodesk • Agreement expires on Sept. 7, 2014 • Autodesk has changed their agreement – The product is “free for educational use” • Universities get allotments of the free licenses • SLS will manage these licenses – Facilities use is no longer free • “Facilities Use” is any use that revolves around our facilities that is not done by a student or student employee learning a skill or engaged in a class AutoDesk • Teaching Use Update – V. 2014 is perpetual – 2015 products are: • Education Master Suite product titles – Our current suite • Entertainment Creation Suite product titles – New addition • Additional ARC product titles – New addition • Facilities Use Update – V. 2013 is perpetual • 2014 may be, pending response – 2015 products are: • Autodesk Building Design Suite (Standard, Premium, or Ultimate) • Autodesk Infrastructure Design Suite (Standard, Premium, or Ultimate) • 90% discount off commercial pricing to obtain these Survey Tools for Research • Current spend on survey tools is not small – Broken down between four primary vendors – Most transactions are on PCards • Are there other vendors we know of out there? • SLS is looking to consolidate on a single vendor, if possible The Ohio State University FY12 - FY14 Spend Survey Tools Total Row Labels Sum of Amount QUALTRICS $ 498,954 SURVEYMONKEY.COM $ 77,714 ZOOMERANG $ 11,854 SURVEYGIZMO $ 2,158 Grand Total $ 590,680 Renewals • SPSS – Renewed on July 31, 2014 – Codes provided to all customers who requested them – Codes currently available in Self Service Renewals • ArgGIS/ESRI – Licenses expired July 30; OCIO created and rolled out a new license server • esri.service.ohio-state.edu, port 27000 • Rolling out license information as quickly as possible to current users who cannot access the above license server – Desktops/Servers: Contact software@osu.edu (copy dangler.8) with version, MAC address, and number of copies – Concurrent License Servers: contact software@osu.edu (copy dangler.8) with version, MAC address, and number of concurrent copies you need. – Turn-around expected to be 5 business days – Funding request to departments who agreed to costs to happen this month Renewals • SAS – Licenses expire Sept. 30 – Pricing may change: examining process on this – Codes expected in mid-October • JMP – Licenses expire Nov. 30 • Sigmaplot – Licenses expire Dec. 31 Red Hat • Site Licensing has been set up to manage accounts as of 8/25 – Place a request for access at software@osu.edu for now – Satellites are not included • OCIO has requested a single price list and a mechanism for purchasing – Agreement covers all support at the university Adobe CC And MS SQL • OSU Purchasing will take the recommendation to purchase Adobe CC to the Senior Fiscal Officers for FTE-based funding approval • OSU Purchasing has secured the sitewide SQL license, and will also seek FTEbased funding approval from the SFO’s for this Questions/Comments • Next meetings – September 30, 2014, 10 AM – October 31, 2014, 10 AM – (Tentative) December 1, 2014, 10 AM (due to Thanksgiving holiday) • We may expand these meetings to include Hardware and Infrastructure • For SLS Questions, copy software@osu.edu with any correspondance
