Revolutionize your science education with BRIGHT teaching tools Based on the Nobel Prize Laureate physicist Niels Bohr’s theory of the atomic structure Make science teaching and learning easier with the globally appreciated, hands-on, awarded, Swedish BRIGHT science products: + + + + BRIGHT Atom™ BRIGHT Teacher Atom™ BRIGHT Science Kit™ BRIGHT Teacher Molecule™ BRIGHT Atom™ • two atomic surfaces with which to work • 30 protons, 30 electrons, 30 neutrons • smart storing of the subatomic particles inside the box • all tactile • can be stacked when not in use The BRIGHT Atom™ is based on the Danish Nobel Prize Laureate Niels Bohr’s model of the atomic structure. A perfect model to learn the atomic structure in a concrete way. Ions can also be created. How to use the BRIGHT Atom™ To make an atom: In this example we use the lid as a base to make an oxygen atom. Place 8 protons (white particles marked with +) in the atomic nucleus (center of the lid). Place 8 neutrons (all white particles) in the atomic nucleus, with the protons. Place 2 electrons (black particles marked with -) on the inner shell. Then place the other 6 electrons on the second shell. To make an isotope: Same as making an atom; make sure to add the right number of neutrons. The difference between an atom and an isotope is the number of neutrons in the nucleus. To make ions: Use both bases to make two atoms. Let the atoms collide, and move over the valence electrons by hand. The two atoms have now become ions; atoms with a positive or negative charge depending on the number of electrons. Teacher Atom™ • two atomic nuclei • eight electron shells • 20 protons, 20 electrons, 20 neutrons • metal storing board • all parts are magnetic • all parts are separate, use only the parts you need The Teacher Atom™ is a perfect demonstration tool to present the atomic structure to the class. The formation of two atoms or one ion can be demonstrated; directly on the whiteboard. How to use the BRIGHT Teacher Atom™ To present the atomic structure to the class: Place one of the atomic nuclei and your selected electron orbits directly at the classroom whiteboard. Put the right number of protons and neutrons at the nucleus, and place the right number of electrons at the electron shells. To show isotopes; add or remove neutrons to the atomic nuclei. Make ions: The smaller atomic nucleus is placed at the whiteboard, along with the chosen electron orbits, and the larger atomic nucleus with its chosen electron shells next to it. The valence electron/electrons can now easily be moved by hand, and the abstract concepts of ions become concrete to the class. BRIGHT Science Kit™ • one Teacher Atom™ • eight BRIGHT Atoms™ • lesson plan / working sheets The BRIGHT Science Kit™ provides tools for the teacher and for the students. A complete instructional manipulativ for any science classroom! How to use the BRIGHT Science Kit™ The BRIGHT Teacher Atom™ lets the teacher present the structure of atoms, isotopes and ions easy and concrete to the class; directly on the classroom whiteboard. The BRIGHT Atom™ lets the students make their own atoms, isotopes and ions by using their hands. The students can work separately, in pairs or in smaller groups. The concrete, hands-on experience gives the students a natural understanding of our smallest building stones. The BRIGHT Science Kit™ lesson plan holds activities for the students to use in class or as tests. Developed along with science teachers. Science teachers at our Swedish BRIGHT Reference School™ about the BRIGHT products: • ”Excellent” • ”Fun to work with” • ”Makes the presentations of atomic structure easy for students to comprehend” • ”Simple to illustrate: • Atoms • Atomic weight • Atomic number • Elektron shells ”We have used the BRIGHT Atom in high school and they work very well. All the teachers think the comprehension of atomic structure has increased” Birgitta Wahlman-Baro Science teacher, Linghemsskolan • Electron configuration • Nobel gas structur • Ionic bonding Science teachers at our American BRIGHT Reference School™ about the BRIGHT Atom: "The BRIGHT Atom is a concrete manipulative that turns the abstract concept of atomic structure into child's play for my students. Even advanced students admit to me that they never really understood it until now.” Dawn Meeks Science teacher at Warren Central High Vicksburg, MS, USA ” Bright Models! Cool stuff! The kids really enjoyed them. They thought they were playing...I knew they were learning!” Jessica King Science teacher at Warren Central High Vicksburg, MS, USA Teacher Quote . "Students at Warren Central High School have been using the BRIGHT Atoms for the past three years. The use of this wonderful hands-on manipulative has revolutionized the way we teach atomic structure across our science curriculum. It has made the explanation of a complex and abstract topic so much easier and faster...which means the class can move on to other objectives with greater understanding." Dawn Meeks Science teacher at Warren Central High Vicksburg, MS A BRIGHT Reference School BRIGHT Teacher Molecule™ • 10 atoms each in 6 different colours - black atoms - white atoms - red atoms - blue atoms - green atoms - yellow atoms representing e.g. Carbon representing e.g. Hydrogen representing e.g. Oxygen representing e.g. Nitrogen representing e.g. Chlorine representing e.g. Sulphur • 50 bindings • all parts are magnetic BRIGHT Teacher Molecule™ is a tool that lets the teacher present molecules and chemical bonding to the class in an easy and concrete way. The model can be used with or without bindings and can show a wide variety of molecules; directly on the whiteboard or blackboard. Pictures and quotes from teachers and students at BRIGHT of Sweden’s unique concept BRIGHT Reference Schools™ ”Gosh; I get it! It can’t be that hard after all…” ”So much easier when you make them yourself” The BRIGHT Reference Schools™ have been using the BRIGHT products for four years or more. ”Clearer and easier to grasp the concepts using the Teacher Atom” ”…clearer, as you get to make them yourself” The schools provide BRIGHT of Sweden with feedback and share study results; showing the teachers and students appreciate the products and that the study results go up ”..oh, okay; then it wasn’t that hard!” ”It’s easier to work and pick with all the parts yourself, not just listening to the teacher” The atomic structure is studied the same way over the world; based on the Danish physicist and Nobel Prize Laureate Niels Bohr’s theory of the atom ”Cool… I get it now!” ”Great model; it makes it easier to really understand” The BRIGHT Reference Schools™ tell the interest for science increases using the BRIGHT products. Teachers as well as students enjoy working with the hands-on teaching tools. ”GOOD; better than the teacher’s drawings..” ”…easier to grasp!” You are more than welcome to visit us at www.brightsite.se BRIGHT of Sweden’s products are made in Sweden.
