Introduction
London is the capital of England.
• There are lots of monuments like BIG BEN ,
THE TOWER BRIDGE , BUCKINGHAM
PALACE, ST PAUL’S CATHEDRAL….
• Now, our presentation is about the most
famous monuments.
Buckingham Palace
• This is Buckingham Palace:
• IT is the official residence of the British
Queen in London.
• It’s the focal* point of the British people at
times of joy,crisis and grief*.
• Its name was Buckingham House and it was
built in 1703.

TOWER BRIDGE

Bridge was the largest and most
sophisticated bascule bridges ever built.
• This bridge is famous worldwide thanks to
its particular architecture.

Saint Paul’s Cathedral
- Saint Paul’s cathedral was destroyed in 1666.
and was rebuilt by Christopher Wren in 1708.
- This is the most visited cathedral in the heart of
the city and the most majestic.
- There are 528 steps* to get to the dome.
- Londoners celebrate joyful events* like the
wedding* of Prince Charles and Lady Diana.

BIG BEN
• Big Ben is the nickname for the big bell of
the Clock Tower of the Palace of
Westminster.
• The building faces the River Thames.
• The first bell was made in 1856.
• It was built in 1843-1859 by Charles Barry
• The Clock Tower has been renamed the
Tower Elizabeth, in honor of the Queen for
her diamond jubilee (June 2012).
