EGTC in Austria – status quo
Development in the adaption of legal provisions on EGTC
in Austria
•Austria is a federal state composed of 9 autonomous Laender.
•Art. 15 Federal Constitutional Law
In so far as a matter is not expressly assigned by the Federal Constitution to
the Federation for legislation or also execution, it remains within the
Laenders’ autonomous sphere of competence.
•The adaption of federal constitutional law is still pending.
•In the meantime each of the nine Austrian Laender
has adopted the legal provisions on EGTC – very similar.

Conclusion
The goal after the „pilot-phase of implementation EGTC“ is to
•exchange the experiences within Europe,
•to get some examples of good practice,
•to identify the challenges, opportunities, obstacles and the
added value.
•This could be a good basis for more feasible EGTC regulations
and an excellent guidance for choosing the most sustainable and
efficient instruments in territorial cooperation and for MultiLevel Governance.
