Examples lack of food, changing climatic conditions. Religious Persecution When governments persecute members of a religious minority those people often migrate more tolerant locations. Jews during WWII Ethnic Persecution Ethnic groups will often migrate to escape unfair treatment (persecution) by another group. Economic Motives • Poverty and unemployment is often a Push factor motivating people to migrate to locations of opportunity. Forced Migration Sometimes government or other circumstances will force another group of people to migrate. Political Factors • Often political instability and revolution force people to flee their homelands. The desire to find greater political freedoms may also motivate people to migrate.
