GOAL:
To investigate what we are and where we come from so we might determine where we are headed
OUTLINE:

The focus of the units is to look at the causes of past conflicts/problems/issues, and to study attempts to either resolve the ones that are with us and avoid them in the future
There are 2 competencies :
1: Interprets Contemporary World Problems
2: Takes a position on Contemporary World Issues
Each is valued at 50%, both are evaluated each term
There are 5 themes (Orange handout):
Power , Wealth , Conflict, Environment , Population
Homework and Participation ( up to 20%)
Write, investigate, answer questions, read
Quizzes (up to 30%)
Surprise quizzes on homework assigned or recent classes taught
Unit tests (20-50%)
One test per unit
