Roman Food and Festivities By: Sean, Brenden, & Prashant Roman Food for Commoners A Plebeian diet, or common people, consisted mainly of cereals, breads, corn, and wine. Wine at this time was extremely popular, although it was not like modern wine. Ancient Roman wine was more watered down, with added spices. Upper Class Roman Food Upper class Romans, such as government officials, ate a variety of exotic foods, like cheese, bird, fish, eggs, sausage, etc. These items were much more expensive than the breads and cereals found in a common household.
