to make the priests submit to Henry as the “Supreme Head of the Church”
Supplication of the Ordinaries
to take away legal independence of the Church – King now makes the
decisions
Act to remove annates
Annates were annual payments to Rome from the Church in England –
Henry now takes these payments directly for himself

Act in Restraint of Appeals
Prevented anyone from appealing for foreign assistance (principally from
Rome) in England. Catherine of Aragon could now no longer ask for
assistance against her annulment

Act forbidding papal dispensation and payment of Peter’s pence
Ecclesiastical power were now Henry’s. Also prevented any money going to
Rome
Act of Succession
Henry and Catherine’s marriage was now invalid – Mary was now
illegitimate and secured succession for Henry and Anne’s children
Had to swear an oath to agree to this –
if not – treason punishable by death
Act of Supremacy
Henry was now the Supreme Head of the Church
- gave him the rights to collect first fruit and tenths
- now treasonable to call the King or Queen a heretic or a
schismatic
