Prophet Sulayman’s Supplication (Dua) Prophet Sulayman asked Allah for a kingdom that no one after him would have like it. Allah granted his wish. No du’a of any believer is ever rejected by Allah. Allah subjected the winds, the animals and the jinns to Prophet Sulayman. Questions What was the wish of Sulayman عليه السالمthat he asked Allah to grant him? 2. What did you learn from this? 3. Prophet Sulayman’s Thankfulness Prophet Sulayman’s Thankfulness And indeed, We gave knowledge to Dawood and to Sulayman; and they both said: “All the praises (and thanks) be to Allah, Who has chosen us above many of His faithful servants.” [27:15] In spite of his great kingdom, Prophet Sulayman was not arrogant like many other kings and emperors. At length, when They came to a (lowly) valley of ants, one of the ants said: "O you ants, get into your habitations, Lest Solomon and His hosts crush you (under foot) without knowing it." [27:18] Prophet Sulayman’s Thankfulness So He smiled, amused at Her speech; and He said: "O My Lord! so order me that I may be grateful for Your favours, which You hast bestowed on me and on My parents, and that I may work the righteousness that will please You: and admit me, by Your Grace, to the ranks of Your righteous Servants.” [27:19] He cared about all creatures in his kingdom, including the tiny ants. As he prayed that his power may only be used for good causes and the benefit of the world. Great Things Can be Achieved by Humble Beings As humble and tiny a creature as an ant saved the entire colony of ants from Sulayman’s army. To David we gave Solomon (for a son),- How excellent In Our service! ever did He turn (to Us)! 31. Behold, there were brought before him, at eventide coursers of the highest breeding, and swift of foot (horses); 32. And He said, "Truly do I love the love of good, with a view to the glory of My Lord,"- until (the sun) was hidden In the veil (of night) 33. “Bring them back to me." then began He to pass His hand over (their) legs and their necks. Sulayman’s Consciousness of Allah One day, Prophet Sulayman was inspecting the horses which were prepared for Jihad. Being greatly engrossed in it, He completely forgot to offer the ‘Asr prayer before sunset. Although his inspection was for the cause of Allah, but he blamed himself for missing the Salah due to it. Sulayman builds Masjid-ul-Aqsa Prophet Sulayman عليه السالمbuilt Masjid-ul-Aqsa in Quds (Jerusalem) for the worship of Allah. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: “When Sulayman عليه السالمbuilt Bayt al-Maqdis he asked Allah to grant him three things. Allah gave him two and we hope that the third one would be ours. He asked him for a kingdom that does not belong to any other after him. Allah gave it to him. The second was to grant him a judgement close to that of Allah and He gave it to him. Sulayman builds Masjid-ul-Aqsa The third thing he asked Allah that any man leaving his house wanting nothing but to pray in this House (Aqsa Mosque) be forgiven of all his sins as the day he was born.” The third point of the Dua was not granted to him because it is only meant for the Mosque in Makkah. All the traces of Masjid-ul-Aqsa built by Sulayman have disappered. Questions Who built the Aqsa Mosque and where? Mention the wishes of Prophet Sulayman عليه السالم. How many of them were granted?
