CAASPP - 2015
 SVUSD Students will be tested in grades 3-8 and 11
with the following exams:
 Paper Based (CST, CMA & CAPA)
 NCLB Science Exams
 CAT (Computer Adaptive Test)
 ELA
 Math
 PT (Performance Task)
 ELA Classroom Activity
 ELA PT Computer Questions
 Math Classroom Activity
 Math PT Computer Questions
CAASPP CHANGES FOR 2015
 New TOMS Student Management System. Use district
assessment web site to enter, email access will not work
after password is changed.
 Verify that students are taking the correct exam, this
year do NOT “Select All” exams on computer exams.
Interim Exams also included in bank.
 The EAP Exam for 11th graders will be included in the
computer –based exams.
 CAA - Students designated to take the CAPA exam will
also take the CAA (California Alternative Assessment)
Field Test online. The district will train test proctors how
to administer the exam.
SITE COORDINATOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Receive, count, store, distribute, track, collect, count and return paper
materials.
Coordinate testing schedule. Non Testers can not be scheduled in
testing rooms.
Bubble demographic data for students without Pre ID answer
documents. (all fields!)
Train Test Administrators (TA) Examiners
Collect a Security Affidavits for each TA (Must be read in training)
Verify that each eligible student scheduled for testing with the
appropriate testing documents
Verify IEP accommodations/designated supports are in TOMS from
upload. You will need to add 504 accommodations/designated
supports manually!
Collect Parent Exempt Letters… check box in TOMS for Exemptions.
TEACHER ADMINISTRATOR (TA) RESPONSIBILITIES
#1 Responsibility—Security
 No unauthorized electronic devices signs posted
in classroom during testing. (Collect all smart
devices)
 Sign new Security Affidavit
 Verify that there is nothing on walls that would
violate the security of exam (remove or cover)
 Monitor Testing
 Follow School Testing Protocols and Testing Schedule.
SECURITY
Security Audits will occur throughout the state at randomly
selected schools and LEA (district) offices before, during,
or after testing.
Verify that materials are secure, accounted for, and
locked up when not in use.
Are correct administrative procedures being followed? For
example:
 Instructional materials have been removed or covered.
 Students are not being coached through the exams.
 Only appropriate Universal Tools, Designated Supports,
and Accommodations are being provided on computer
exams.
 No unauthorized electronic devices shall be used.

 Read ALL “SAY” boxes
exactly as written.

with students.
 ONLY translate boxes
with “T” (NO CST/CMA
questions, prompts, or
passages may be translated).
 There is a single DFA
for each exam: CST and CMA
*We do not administer the STS in our
district.
AFTER TESTING: COMPLETE BACK OF
ANSWER DOCUMENTS
Test Administrators must complete the following for students with IEP or
504s:
A2 Special Conditions
A3 Accommodations and Modifications
 Part a: mark “IEP” and/or “Section 504 plan” to indicate
which program/plan student has, whether used Universal
Tools, Designated Supports, and Accommodations or not.
 Note: IEP is required to take CMA, CAPA.
 Part b, mark codes for all Universal Tools, Designated
Supports, and Accommodations student used as specified
in IEP and/or 504 plan.
AFTER TESTING
Transcribe
 Braille and large print (or not processed)
In Section A3 on the back of the answer document mark
“G” or “H.”
 Damaged answer documents
 Write VOID on
front of answer document(s)
and return with nonscorables.
After Testing:
16a—Disability Code
If not in Pre-ID, mark after testing.
For CST and STS:
 Mark “000” if no IEP; or
 Disability Code from IEP.
For CMA and CAPA:
 Disability code is REQUIRED.
 “000” not valid for CMA or CAPA.
 Also, be sure to mark the “IEP” or “504 Plan” circle in section A3a
even if the student does not use any accommodations or
modifications.
CALIFORNIA ALTERNATE PERFORMANCE
ASSESSMENT (CAPA) – PAPER SCIENCE
Performance-based, one-on-one test
For students with significant cognitive disabilities unable to
take the CSTs even with Universal Tools, Designated
Supports, and Accommodations
Student must have an IEP
IEP specifies CAPA and level
CAPA ANSWER DOCUMENT
Use only 2015 answer document.
Ensure correct CAPA Level is marked in 7a.
Only Level I can have “5” as a score. The highest possible score for
Levels II through IV is “4.”
CAPA – 2nd Rater Requirement
Schools must double-rate a minimum of ten
percent (10%) of the CAPA students per level, per
site (including NPS).
Students to be double-rated are randomly
selected.
Observers must mark Observer and BOTH
examiners and observers must sign their separate
answer documents.

Verify correct student data is coded on answer
document.
Transcribe voided answer documents.
Complete SGID sheets and group student
documents.
Complete Master File Sheet.
Pack: scorables vs. nonscorables
Attach correct shipping labels.

Complete for each set of answer documents or test
booklets per grade.
Please group answer documents in groups
of 100 with the SGID on top on first bundle
of grade.
Place on answer documents for correct:

SCORABLES:
An answer document must be returned for students
enrolled on the first day of testing and designated to take
one of the following tests (even if not tested):
 CST for Science (grades 8 &10)
 CMA for Science (grades 8 & 10)
 CAPA (grades 8 & 10)
Return answer documents for ALL students including those
with special conditions such as:
-Parent Exemption (Remember to check box in TOMS and
return orginal letters in District folder)
-Absent during Test Window
-Etc…
AFTER TESTING: PACK AND RETURN
Separate scorables (with SGID) from
nonscorables: verify grade on answer docs are
grouped together.
Verify documents matches grade on SGID.

Students in grades 6-8, 11 will take the computer exams.
Two Types of Exams:
 CAT - Computer Adaptive Test
 Multiple Choice
 ELA and Math Exams
 PT – Performance Tasks
 Two Parts:
 Classroom Activity
 Computer Questions based on Classroom Activity
 ELA and Math Exams
TEACHER ADMINISTRATOR (TA) RESPONSIBILITIES
TAs should review the Directions for Administration posted
on district assessment website.
TAs shall monitor students throughout testing to make sure
students are:
 Taking the correct exam at the correct time
 DO NOT “SELECT ALL” TESTS
 On correct section
 Monitoring the security of the exam
 NO CELL PHONES IN TESTING ROOM!!!
TA should verify their login credentials in TOMS before
testing day. (Use testing website to get into TOMS, email
no longer works)
CAASPP COMPUTER EXAM - DIRECTIONS
Go to SVUSD Assessment Website:
 www.svusdassessment.com
 Click on “CAASPP” Tab at top of page
 Click button “CAASPP Test Click to Begin”
 Use Login Credentials for TOMS
 First Name.Last Name
 Your Selected Password
 Disable the Pop Up Blocker (if message appears) then
reload page.
 Select the exam(s) that will be administered in your
testing room (DO NOT “SELECT ALL”)

 In the top left corner (white box) select the correct
exam type:
 CAT TESTS – “Smarter Summative Adaptive Tests”
 PT TESTS – “Smarter Summative Performance Tasks”
 Select appropriate exam and Click Green Button
“START EXAM” in top right corner… please note there
are also “interim exams” in the selection field. (Our
district opted not to use these exams this year until all the errors were
corrected by state.)
 Write the “SESSION ID” number that appears on the
top right side of page on the Board for students to
enter in their secured browsers.

 Students should:
 Launch Secured Browsers on their Chromebook or
Computer.
 Login into the CAASPP exam using credentials:
 Enter their FIRST NAME as it appears in Aeries
 “CA” and their “SSID Number”
 Session ID # written on Board
 Once students have logged into the system… teachers
need to “Approve Students” for testing.
 After Testing the Teacher will Click the “STOP” button to
conclude testing.
 Important instructions for this process is outlined on the
teacher login page.
CAA – CALIFORNIA ALTERNATIVE
ASSESSMENT
•All California students eligible for alternate
assessment in grades 3-8 and 11 are expected to
participate.
•The CAA field test encompasses both ELA and math
content areas. Additionally,
•Students in grades 5, 8, and 10 still take the CAPA
for Science.
•CAA testing will be administered through a standard
Web browser. Device and system requirements are
similar to Smarter Balanced.
CAA – CALIFORNIA ALTERNATIVE
ASSESSMENT
•CAA requires one-on-one test administration, with
one Text Examiner and one student in each test
session.
•Testing is estimated to take 1 – 2 hours per student.
•Universal Tools, Designated Supports, and
Accommodations will be available for the CAA Field
Test and should be identified and loaded into TOMS.
•There is a district-wide CAA Proctor Training
scheduled on April 9.
