Each trimester class is worth .5 credit
A and B parts of 2 trimester classes
2 tri classes can be tri’s 1 & 2, 1 & 3, or 2 & 3.
Total credits required is 27.0 – you must earn
90% of your credits in order to graduate on
time



4.0 credits required in English
4.0 credits required in Social Studies
3.0 in Science



1.0 Science 9
1.0 Chemistry
1.0 Biology

3.0 in Math (quite a few different scenarios)
1.0 Algebra II or Intermediate Algebra
 1.0 Geometry
And
 1.0 Stats (or)
 .5 Stats and .5 Algebra with Quadratics/Trig/etc.
(or)
 1.0 Advanced Algebra w/ Statistics
Remember most 4 year colleges want at least Algebra
II/Advanced Algebra







1.0 Arts Choice
.5 Physical Education I
.5 Physical Education II
.5 Health
Remainder= electives to equal 27
If you’re missing requirements see your
counselor about getting scheduled into classes,
or signing up for night school/ summer school
Graduation Requirements, plus
 Through at least Algebra II- math every year
 At least 2 years of a single world language
 RIGOR!
 Involvement- shows you can balance
 Class rank, GPA, and ACT/SAT

GRAD testing is required as well.




Writing test from grade 9
Reading test from grade 10
Math test coming up in spring of grade 11
Need passing scores in all 3 subjects to earn a
diploma



All 11th graders will take the Practice ACT on
October 10th during a late start. (Last year you
took the PLAN)
No cost for testing
Intent is to get you ready to take the ACT in the
spring of your junior year.

This is a full length Practice ACT.
English
 Math
 Reading
 Science
 We won’t be testing Writing

There will also be a follow up to help you interpret
your results to maximize your “real” ACT score.



Put out by College Board- makers of the SAT test
Used by National Merit Scholarship Corporation as
an initial screen for its annual competitions for
scholarships.
Measures skills in 3 academic areas:
Critical Reading
 Mathematics
 Writing Skills
You can still take the PSAT. Offered Wednesday, October
16th at Andover High School for all.
Cost is $18- register online and pay in the counseling office.


Whether you’re planning on college, the
military, or you’re just not sure what you want
to do yet, the ASVAB can provide you with
great information.
It provides you with career exploration scores
which can help determine your readiness for
further education and career training.
The ASVAB provides a predicted ACT score.

Testing December 7th at STEP- free!








If you’re thinking of a 4 year college you’ll want to
take the ACT test or the SAT test.
ACT is more popular in the Midwest and SAT on
the East and West coast. Most colleges accept eithercheck your college if you have ideas.
There are online prep accounts, community ed
practice tests, and booklets to help you prepare.
Most students will test in the Spring of their Junior
year.
You may want to plan on taking it more than once.
Most college applications due in Fall of Senior year
(October of Senior year last opportunity to test in
time)


Naviance is a web-based resource for staff,
students and parents that encourages and
supports post high-school career and college
planning.
You should have registered for your account
on passport day. If you need to register stop in
to the Career Center.





