Identify your coach from within your; school, partnership, Teaching School Alliance or your wider professional network. Alternatively you may opt for one of the QTL coaches for which there is a fee. 360: Awareness of Self The 360 diagnostic helps you to become more self aware. Colleagues and you rate your practice leading to reflection of your; skills, attributes, areas of strength and development. Reflection may influence your work based school improvement project. Work based learning: School Project Focus on your school’s improvement priorities to carry out work based learning that should be part of your day job. Identify a need in your school; research, design and carry out the project identified by leading others. Assessment: Refer to Guidance Manual Task one: Closing the gap Task two: Leading a school improvement priority In writing present your; priority, sources, critical analysis, plans, school evidence, knowledge of learning theories and personal reflection. Your effectiveness in leadership will be verified by a Sponsor (coach) and Head Teacher. Final Assessment: Sponsor You will need a Sponsor (Senior Leader) who will verify your work and the evidence provided in your final assessment submission. They complete your written submission to help to confirm your effectiveness as a senior leader. Your Head Teacher will need to agree to the sponsor and also verify evidence. NPQSL Competencies: 19 Your effectiveness will be assessed against competencies that define characteristics needed to be successful school leaders. These include some specific technical knowledge, skills, motives and abilities which are expressed in actions or behaviours. Your Sponsor will give examples of you having met these competencies.
