Charles Lutwidge Dodgson
Born Charles Lutwidge Dodgson at
Daresbury, Cheshire, England, in 1832, he
was educated at Rugby and Oxford, took
orders in 1861, and was a lecturer in
mathematics at Christ Church College,
Oxford, from 1855-81 when he resigned
to devote his life to writing under his
pseudonym, Lewis Carroll.

Al Khwarizim the father of
algebra
Muhammad ibn Musa al-Khwarizmi
was born sometime before 800 A.D.
in an area not far from Baghdad and
lived at least until 847. He wrote a
book called Al-jabr wa'l muqabala
from which our modern word
"algebra" comes. Al Khwarizim is
sometimes called as the father of
algebra.
