Foreign Registered Vehicles – A Problem?
Background
•Growing concern about the number of over-staying foreign registered vehicles in the UK
• Analysis done by UKBF and DVLA suggests that between 2010 and 2013, approx.
350,000 foreign registered vehicles entered the UK and did not leave, equating to
approximately £60m of lost VED revenue.
• The impact of non-compliance:
- No MOT
- No insurance
- No evidence that vehicles are roadworthy
- No known driver address details
- Under the radar for other offences
• The issue continues to be a high profile topic for DVLA with pressure for action from the
public and ministers,
•The Secretary of State and Home Secretary agreed that departments must work
together.
