What do Coelacanths eat
 Celocanths will eat any fish that they come upon.
 They can lift their upper jaw and move their lower jaw
which allows them to suck up animals in crevices like a
vacuum cleaner.
What eats Coelacanths?
 There are no fish that eat Celocanths.
Where do Coelacanths live?
 Coelacanths lives along the coastline of the Indian
ocean, and across the east African coast from Kenya to
south Africa.
 It was discovered off the coast of South Africa in 1938
How do they reproduce
 They reproduce like all fish.
 However Coelacanth babies hatch within their mother
and she give birth to them live.
 Coelacanths take a year to develop.
Do people eat Coelacanths
 Although Coelacanths are caught by fishermen they
are not eaten.
 Coelacanths are caught because they are where
fishermen try to find oilfish.
 Coelacanths are protected by the government because
they are an endangered species.

 The Coelacanths have been alive for millions of years
but their genetics have only changed slightly.
