Edwards Syndrome is a rare genetic
disorder caused by an extra copy of
chromosome18. Infants born with this
syndrome have; growth deficiency, low
birth weight, an odd shaped head, a small
mouth and jaw, webbed fingers, mental
retardation, organ abnormalities, and heart
defects.

Treatment
• Depending on the individuals condition, is
how the doctors proceed with treatment.
Facts
• It occurs in about 1 out of every 3000 live
births.
• Less than 10 percent live past their first
birthdays.
• Mainly seen in girls.
