A Presentation By Kaleb Noggle Short History • The Huns were a seminomadic tribe that originated Northeast Asia (Now Mongolia), and established an empire of most Eurasia. • Believed to be the descendants of the Xiongnu Tribe. • Most of this land was conquered by Attila the Hun (More about that later) Life as a Hun • Not much is known about the Huns, because there is not a written language. • All we know is that male children were taught weaponry, to ride on horses, and to ignore pain. Military • Was known for archery on horseback. • Made a special designed bow that was made to be more efficient on horseback • Was in groups of 10, 100, 1000, 10000 horsemen • For to fight on foot was disgraceful in the Huns culture. Attila the Hun (406-453) • After the death of Rugila, his nephews Attila and Bleda Dragomer were given the throne (434) • Attila’s role was a minor one until his brother died 12 years later. • Stretched the Hunnic Empire from Germany to the Ural River and from the River Danube to the Baltic Sea • Died by internal bleeding after heavy drinking (Others say that his new wife Illdico was from the gothic tribe and killed him) After Attila • After Attila died his three sons Ellac, Dengizich, and Ernakh, fought over who would take the role of Khagan (ruler) • Since of that they were defeated in the Battle of Neado by Ostrogoths and the Gepids. • Since Attila had so many wives, it is almost impossible to find a direct line of descendants
