SL corporation is one of the successful international medium enterprises in South Korea, which is a global leading company in lamp system of automobile industry. We found these generic mechanisms for global expansion of a medium enterprise from the case of SL Corporation. There are mechanisms of selecting, learning and coordinating. Selecting is about choosing the appropriate geographical focus & mode of international entry. Learning process concerns international new absorptive capacity. Coordinating process is related to combinative capabilities & integration of global activities. SL chose the location that offers opportunities of learning & growth. The company was able to acquire core knowledge about market & technologies by global learning and establishing innovation centre. Also, the company could accelerate knowledge absorption & new capability building via effective coordinating of global activities.
