30-hour advising: The Florida College System Associate in
Arts students are required to identify the bachelor’s
degree program and college/university of interest by
the time they earn 30 hours. Once a student
identifies the program and institution of interest, the
Florida college will let the student know about the
common prerequisite requirements. The purpose of
the 30-hour advising rule is to improve articulation
and reduce excess credit hours.

Foreign Language Requirement:
 For undergraduate admission to a state university, students must have earned
2 years in a foreign language at the high school level.
 If a student did NOT complete this requirement while in high school, the
student must complete 8 credit hours in one foreign language at FKCC prior to
transferring.

Advising Reminders

Contact your Academic Advisor or Program Advisor at least once per semester.
•
Register for developmental courses 1st. Many developmental courses are prerequisites into
core courses. It is important that you complete these so it doesn’t hold you back from
registering from courses you need to complete your degree.
•
Only three attempts permitted for any course (withdrawals count). Third attempts at courses
charge full cost at Out-of State tuition ($438.73 per credit).
•
Understand your limits with course loads:
Part-time ≤ 11 credits
Full-time ≥ 12 credits
•
Remember to allow 1-2 hours of study time for each credit hour.
•
Always print your class schedule to confirm assigned classroom before first day of classes.

Island TIME: Transition Into Math
Excellence
Developmental Math courses have ditched the “chalk and talk” for a
new and improved way of teaching- Island TIME: Transition Into
Math Excellence.
Students will benefit from a personalized learning experience that
combines face-to-face instruction with easy-to-use technology. The
goals of FKCC’s new program are to ensure students successfully
complete developmental math courses, and are then prepared and
confident for the next step toward a bright future.
Student Success Center
Island TIME courses will take place in the new, state-of-theart Student Success Center. Students will attend class in one
portion of the Student Success Center, and then complete
coursework in the adjoining computer lab. The Student
Success Center is located in TWFAC 2402 and 2403, above
the Ceramics lab. Just follow the green arrows.
