An organization that sells goods or services to make a profit. What’s a good? What’s a service? What’s a profit? Where do businesses come from? People with ideas The people who start new businesses based on their ideas are called entrepreneurs What makes entrepreneurs special? Innovation! Free enterprise Have you heard of the “free enterprise system”? The kind of economy that lets people start new businesses based on their own ideas is called a free enterprise system That kind of system also lets people choose what kind of job they want to do, and what kind of goods or services they want to buy. In a free enterprise system, how do businesses convince people to buy their goods or services? Advertising Activity – What’s your big idea? We’ll divide into groups of about four students Each group will get a business topic card Read the card and the questions about making a new business based on your ideas As a team, come up with a new business idea and an advertising plan to convince people to buy it Pick a representative to present your idea to try convince the class to buy it Review Businesses Goods Services Profit Entrepreneur Innovation Free Enterprise Advertising
