Making use of the castle role-play area and iPads (Puppet Pals App), to invent a fairytale . - Mental maths strategies (with a focus on number) Number work – addition, subtraction and 2 times tables. Shape, Space and Measure Data Handling Reasoning and problem solving Geography – Reduce, reuse, recycle! History – Researching castles (identifying features of a castle/ their location in Wales/ castle life). Welsh – Tedi Twt a Doli Glwt books/ rhymes and fairytales in Welsh/ the past tense in Welsh Cwricwlwm Cymraeg – Visit to Cardiff Castle/ Welsh week to celebrate St. David’s Day Art – Making colours lighter by using white. Design – Construction – Building castles using a range of resources. PE/ Games – Welsh dancing/ ball skills PSD – Going for goals – setting personal targets/ Chinese New Year celebrations RE – St. David’s Day/ Easter celebrations/ Church visit/Story of Moses Recycling Roadshow to visit school Cardiff Castle trip Library visit – keep fit/ dance session Church visit – Easter Watch ‘The Country Mouse’ performance in school St. David’s Day Concert Please send in any interesting objects/ photographs to school relating to the topics – Rhymes & Fairytales/ Castles. Please hear your child reading at home every night if possible and comment in their books. Return reading books to school every day. Caper books to be returned every Friday. Homework – spelling lists will be sent home every Friday, ready for the test the following Friday (please assist/ encourage your child to learn their spellings)/ various homework will be sent home on a Friday related to the work that has been taught that week PE kit needs to be brought into school on a Monday and will be returned on a Friday. £1 fruit money is collected each Monday.
