Who are those who hunger and thirst
for righteousness?






The people who hunger and thirst for righteousness
are those who:
Love and seek God as their first priority
Strive to do what is just for themselves and others
Do not take advantage of others and cheat
Are inspired to do something for God
Are willing to suffer for a just cause.
Righteousness
Righteousness means always doing what is
morally right, just, ethical, honorable and
virtuous.
 A righteousness believer follows God everyday.
 In every decision that he makes or what ever he
does he will first ask himself, “What will Jesus
do?”

Meaning
In the 4th beatitude, Jesus is teaching us to develop
an attitude which is giving God and human beings
what is due to them.
 He wants them to strive for what is good, what is
true, what is right and what is just so that they will
be ultimately be satisfied.
 Those who strive to do what is only good for their
selfish interests will finally end up empty.


 Rona Mahilum – Saved her siblings from
the fire without thinking of the reward

8th beatitude
Blessed
are those
who are persecuted
for the sake of
righteousness; for
theirs is the kingdom
of God
Who are those who are persecuted for
the sake of righteousness?





The persecuted are the people who:
Suffer harassment for standing for what is true, just
and right
Risk their life, property or reputation for a just cause
Remain faithful to Jesus in the midst of pain and
sufferings
Who oppose unjust structures in the community or
the society
Meaning
Those who suffer or risk their life, property or
reputation in working for a good cause such as faith,
justice, or some Christian virtues, are promised no
les than a place in the Kingdom of God.
 Those who learn to suffer and sacrifice for a just
cause are the tried and true type of people who gain
the reward of life with God.
 In this beatitude Christ teaches us to be persecuted
not for misdeeds or an evil act but to do this for
righteousness


St. John de Britto – He suffered because
he was preaching in India
 Jose Rizal – He suffered to have freedom
in the country
 St. Lorenzo Ruiz- He was killed in Japan
because he hepled a dying man.

